Luz was sitting on the couch, King sleeping on her lap. Books, drawings and human garbage littering the floor. King's soft snores echoed throughout the owl house, Luz could feel herself falling asleep. She struggled to keep her eyes open as her head nodding back and forth. She almost drifted to sleep.
"HOOT!" Yelled the obnoxious voice of Hooty, waking the young girl from her daze. "We have guests, Hoot hoot" The ugly tube continued as the door swung open to reveal the Blight siblings.
"Amity!" Luz said enthusiastically, as she found herself no longer tired. King raised his head before rolling his eyes.
"Ugh, I'll be upstairs" The small demon said before turning and walking away. Unimpressed by the visitors.
"Ooooh, I wanna touch it!" Edric said running after the creature.
"I'll make sure Ed doesn't die" Emira said half jokingly as she following after her starry-eyed brother.
Luz and Amity were alone. Both trying to think of a way to beat the awkward silence.
"So?" Luz began taking a step closer. "Do you wanna get something to eat?" The gap between them closing. "Or we could..." Luz's words were cut off when she tripped on a book. Her arms flailing in the air. The distance between them was gone as Amity moved forward to catch her friend. Inches away from Amity's face, Luz could feel her face turn red. "Thanks" Luz said her nose almost touching Amity.
"Don't worry about it." Amity said her voice a whisper. The two girls stared at each other a little too long. Their arms still entangled and their hearts beating as one.
"So, should we head to town?" Amity asked pulling away from the embrace.
"Yeah that sounds good." Luz replied turning her head to the side.
