Luz was standing in the flames. The fire licking at her clothes. The heat was attacking her on all sides. Luz could feel a presence watching her, awaiting her next move. She heard whispers from beyond the flames. Familiar voices danced around her head. Then she heard it, voices she knew very well.
"I lost my magic because of you" Eda's accusation floated in the air.
"You ruined my life." Boscha whispered in her ears.
"How many times have I almost died because of you?" Gus cried from beyond the flames.
"I almost lost who I was because of You!" Willow screamed from behind her.
"Mittens never forgave us because You ratted us out!" The twins said their voices echoing around her.
Luz turned in circles, accusations and familiar faces fading in and out of the flames. The voices of her friends jumping out at her. Luz could feel wet tears dripping down her face, contrasted by the hot flames scorching around her.
Out from the flames stepped a single person. Amity.
Amity stood in front of Luz, her face distorted by the smoke.
"I Never have and Never will love you." Amity said flatly. Luz stood in shock, the words cut into her skin. Tears spilling out of her eyes and down to the ground. But then she heard something else. Two unfamiliar voices, whispers in the background. Luz pushed pass the distorted Amity.
"Don't do that." It warned becoming more and more faded with each step.
Luz stepped forwards, she touched the flames only to find nothing.
"It's an illusion. All of this is a illusion!" With those words, the voices faded away completely and Amity was gone. The fire died down and Luz saw two people looking back at her in shock. Their features were distorted and broken, but their voices crisp and clear.
"How did you..?" The male voice trailed off, unsure.
Luz had the sinking feeling that she had met these people before.
"It doesn't matter, the damage is done." The female said to her companion.
Luz squinted and tried to focus, how did she know these people? The two figures got more and more clear. Their faces less abstract, their clothing looked familiar. Too familiar.
Luz's eyes flashed open, those were Amity's parents!
"What did you do to me?!" She yelled "Why am I here?!"
The parents said nothing. They simply turned around and walked off.
"Get back here!" Luz demanded to the shadows.
Then she woke up, Luz touched her face and found tears. She needed answers, Luz reached for her hoodie but stopped short. The purple hoodie was littered with burn holes, it smelled of smoke, sweat and really nice perfume? Luz stopped at the last one. The smell of flowers floating against the smoke and death. Ignoring the hoodie, Luz reached for a cleaner t-shirt. After changing Luz stood tall and looked into the mirror. Taking a shaky breath, she turned and walked down the hallway. The shadows looming over her, the sound of her footsteps echoed in the passageway. As Luz reached the top of the stairs, she stopped. Everyone else was looking back at her.
