This chapter takes place Four days after chapter 12 (Freedom Is But A Distant Dream).
Amity clawed at the walls, desperate to escape. Her fingers bleeding from desperation. Her room was distorted, the windows cracked and broken. The mirror shattered on the floor. Posters ripped to the ground, the wallpaper torn to shreds. But it wasn't real, everything was just a stupid illusion. A fake reality, the ultimate bubble. A bubble made to rip apart her mind, made to turn Amity into a shadow of her former self. Created to take away individuality, to make the perfect little doll.
Every second was torture. The walls were laughing, and the room was pulling away pieces of Amity's mind. 'How old was I again?' Amity stopped and questioned herself. Unsure of why she couldn't remember. 'What's my favorite color? Whose my best friend? How do I spell my name?' Amity's hands were shaking down, her brain having a meltdown. She was forgetting simple things, basic information. Her mind would be gone soon.
Amity staggered to the rooms center, covering her ears, she began to scream. Trying to drown out whatever was stealing her memories. With waves of shame, she could feel herself giving up. Could feel her memories being ripped out of her mind.
'How long was she here? How many hours or days had passed? Would she be able to survive?'
"Relinquish your feeling for the Human and this ends." Her father said from beyond the walls.
"No!" She yelled into the empty space, Amity could feel the emotions rise up within her, but couldn't remember why this 'human' was so important to her or what a 'human' was.
But now Amity couldn't remember why she was there, only that the room was bad. She tried to picture the man who had just spoken to her, but his face was fuzzy. Amity searched her memories, trying to hold onto something. She had siblings but couldn't remember their faces or their genders. She looked at a picture in her room. She was standing with three other people, all of them with formal clothing on. Three girls and a boy, they were celebrating something, smiles plastered to their faces. Amity focused on the photo, trying to remember who those people were. They had to be important right? They were on her shelf for a reason! The girl with the glasses looked familiar, but the memory was fuzzy. Like she was someone Amity didn't always want to remember. The boy was very small and had dark hair, he looked younger. But Amity couldn't remember if he was younger or if he was just short for their age. Amity squinted at the other girl, she had round earlobes and a kind face. Amity could barely remember who that was, but the name was on the tip of her tongue. Her heart beat faster with every second she spent looking at the girl.
"Luz?" Amity whispered, relieved to finally recognize someone. But then Amity paused, something felt wrong. Unnatural even. Amity blinked and looked around, taking a view of her room.
"What happened here?" She asked aloud, the room was torn to shreds. Her good witch Azura poster was in pieces, bits of broken glass littered the floor. Cuts and gashes ran along Amity's hands and arms.
"The human happened." A woman's voice cut out from behind her.
Amity turned around and saw a women, the lady shared her green hair and sharp eyes.
"Mother?" Amity asked unsure.
"Correct daughter." Her mother responded.
"That human broke into your room, if it wasn't for Boscha you would have died!" Her mother said with a nasty tone, pointing a finger at the photo. "Those ruffians are out for your life my dear."
Amity said nothing, she simply nodded. Her mind said to believe her mother, but a small part of her desperately wanted to say otherwise. A little piece of her held doubt, but she didn't know why. Her mother would never lie to her, right?
"Boscha will be here later." A brown haired man said. Amity assumed that the man was her father.
'Who's Boscha?' Amity couldn't remember but the name brought back emotions from deep within her.
Amity stood blank as her parents ushered her to her bed. Pushing her down and pulling the covers over her body.
"Go to sleep, the staff will fix the room by the time you awake." Her mother said.
"That's right dear, everything is perfect now." Her father told her.
Amity started falling asleep, her eyes closed slowly and her breathing slowed. She was so tired, but she didn't know why. Then again, she was just attacked by that human and it's criminal accomplices before being saved by Boscha. The idea of her knight in shining armor lulled her to sleep, but her heart was disagreeing heavily. Like there was something or someone important she had forgotten, a small detail that would be crucial later on. The disconnect between her mind and heart was large. The distance between what she thought and what she felt was unbelievably wide.
Odalia smiled, as she walked out of the room, she snapped her fingers. And the bubble burst. Amity was back in her room. The wall paper restored, the mirror remade and the windows fixed. Everything was perfect once again. But before Odalia stepped out of the room, she paused. There was only one thing out of place, the Grom photo. With a frown Odalia took the photo and burned it to a crisp. NOW everything was perfect.
