Amity and Luz walked around the market. Each holding an apple blood in their hands. Luz pointed enthusiastically at the stalls, Amity following close behind and taking the time to answer all of Luz's questions.
The day however it started, was turning better with every second. After they journeyed the market, the two found themselves on a secluded hill. Sitting on the soft grass, with a gentle breeze, the two girls could relax. Amity could barely remember the fear and anxiety that came with being around her parents. Her worries flying away with the breeze. While Luz could barely remember what was so terrifying about her nightmare from hours past. Amity was right beside her, Amity would always be right beside her. The two girls sat upon the grassy hill, relaxed and happy.
Amity placed her hand beside her, leaning back and enjoying the view. Ever so tenderly Luz reached her hand and placed it beside Amity. Luz's pinky finger gently touching Amity's hand. Neither girl looked at each other but both were happy. Amity was glad Luz had taken her hint, and Luz glad that Amity didn't pull away. As if by fate the two girls turned to face the other at the same time.
"I have to tell you something." Amity admitted, her voice cracking. Her eyes darting between the view and Luz.
"Me too." Luz admitted, face slightly flushed.
"Do you wan't to go first?" Amity asked, her nerves getting the best of her.
"No, no it's okay you can go." Luz replied her hands shaking back and forth. The dark haired girl gestured to Amity, egging her to speak.
"Luz...." Amity began, her face flushed. Amity closed her eyes and took a deep breathe. This was her moment! "Luz, I think I love you."
Amity opened her eyes, to look at the reaction of the girl she had fallen for. Luz's eyes were open wide and her mouth was agape. Her face filled with horror and confusion.
"I...I" Luz began unable to get any words out of her mouth.
Amity turned red, before standing up and running away. 'How could I be so stupid?' She thought to herself. 'Of course she doesn't love me, I'm so stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid.' The words repeated in her mind, like an evil drum.
"AMITY!" Luz cried running after the green haired girl, her legs pounding against the ground. Leaves crunching under her feet. With each step, she desperately tried to follow Amity. Weaving under and around the trees. "Curse you weak nerd legs" Luz cried out loud as Amity got farther and farther away. Luz pushed forward, her lungs empty, her heart racing. She had to reach Amity. She couldn't lose her like this! Luz broke through the thick bushes and saw Amity. Luz opened her mouth and with all her heart screamed "AMITY BLIGHT, I LOVE YOU!" Amity stopped running and turned to face Luz.
"Really?" Amity said, her voice so quiet Luz could barely hear her. Tears streamed down Amity's face, her mouth slowly curling up into a smile. The two began to walk to one another, the distance between them closing.
"Really" Luz said, the distance between them nearly gone.
And then the distance was gone. As Luz pulled Amity into a tight embrace and kissed her. Amity melted into the kiss, her body relaxing against the human. Nothing could ruin this moment. Nothing could take Amity away.
Click, went the camera. With a flash both girls pulled apart. Only to find the Blight family staring at them. Edric and Emira's faces were a look of happiness and shock mixed together. The camera in Chadrick's hands, his knuckles turning white with rage. His shoulders shaking with anger. Karen Blight was much harder to read. Her eyes narrowed and her mouth in a frown. With a flick of her wrist Karen Blight sent an Abomination behind Luz, it's dark purple hands pulling Luz away.
"Amity!" Luz cried, reaching for the girl.
Amity opened her mouth to scream, to say something. But the heavy hand of Chadrick Blight caused her to stop. Amity began to tremble with fear, her hands shaking. She closed her eyes, hoping for this to just be a bad dream.
"My daughter will no longer be associated with you." Chadrick said, his eyes shooting daggers at Luz.
"Father, wait." The twins cried in unison, their voice reaching out. Trying to save Amity from their father's wrath.
"Silence!" The man said. "You will both be punished for you're part in this."
With those words, both twins shut up. Looking away from Luz, unable to face her.
"We Blight's only associate with a select few." Karen said her voice filled with hate. "You are too weak to be with Amity." She stated this as a fact, even though in reality it was an opinion.
Amity looked on in horror, as her father began dragging her away.
"Don't worry dear." Her mother said in a sinister voice. "We will fix you soon enough."
"That's right, you are a Blight" Her father continued. "And Blight's are perfect"
