A familiar yet so strange voice tore her from her thoughts.
>>Hey, Amity...<<
The witch turned on her heel. The other person was close. Very close. She needed to look up. Amity wasn't the shortest but by far not tall. It bugged her a bit that she didn't grew that much in the past years but it wasn't making her life more difficult than it already was. But now it felt weird. She needed a moment to recognize what was going on. But for now the witch just stared up into a pair of friendly looking brown eyes. She blinked, then she blinked some more not being able to progress what was happening. Her opponent smiled awkwardly but kinda shy. She wasn't sure what to say nor do so she just stood in front of Amity, one hand on her own neck and smiling.
>>Surprise..? I'm back.<<
>>It's.. you. Am I dreaming?<<
>>Whaddya mean? You changed your hair. Man it was difficult to identify you.<<
Amity felt her heartbeat raising. She was just ready to give up hope. Her feelings were so mixed up in just this moment that she couldn't talk in proper sentences. She was happy and shocked and mad; and so much more.
>>Yea I- I like my normal haircolour more.<<
>>It suits you! You look great!<<
>>Thanks... you- you too.<<
Amity could slap herself right across the face right now. Why wasn't she able to talk like a normal person anymore? It wasn't like that when they were younger. She still couldn't believe this was just happening. All of a sudden Luz stood in front of her, smiling like no time went by. But she in fact looked a tiny bit different. Luz was like 2 inches taller than Amity which was still wearing heels. Her hair also looked a bit longer. Surprisingly she still wore the same clothes. But they where obviously a different size than they where back then. Additional to that Luz wore a grey flannel, the sleeves where rolled up to the upper half of her forearms. Even though her face gave Amity the same bubbly dumbass feeling about Luz that she was used to she recognized that the human girl looked like she grew up. Not as childish as Amity remembered.
>>Why thank you. But I haven't found the others yet. You where the first.. after Eda, King and Hooty of course.<<
>>The bird tube?<<
Luz nodded. She was still smiling and seemed very happy to be back on the Boiling Isles.
>>Well, school just ended. So Gus and Willow are probably on their way home.<<
>>Oh and Edric and Emira? What about them?<<
>>My siblings? They're probably at home by now.<<
>>Okay. Then we'll go to them after everyone else?<<
>>We?<<
The witch flinched. It was weird to talk to Luz like nothing happened. Why did she left the Isles? Why did she left her? A hand on her shoulder tore Amity out of her thoughts again. Luz seemed a bit worried as she touched Amity's shoulder to get her attention. She asked if the witch was okay with coming with her. She nodded and started moving, followed by Luz. Which was walking so fast that she soon took the lead. The latter asked all kind of questions about what happened in the past years. Amity had to admit that not a lot was going on. The Isles where as weird as ever. But a few more flowers where blooming around the marketplace due to the Plant coven.
Surprisingly the flowers where fascinating Luz so much that she stopped here and there to look at them for several seconds. It was a weird way to look at flowers in Amity's opinion but she decided not to question Luz's action. Maybe it was a human thing... or a Luz thing. Amity was smart enough to know that Luz was a little odd; even for a human. But wasn't Amity herself a bit odd too? She got lost in her thoughts again but not for long as Luz grabbed her wrist almost gently and pulled the witch with her towards the houses of her old friends. The human seemed excited as her memories were slowly getting more and more clear. Amity felt guilty because she didn't really managed to stay in contact with Gus and Willow. They were still talking when they met each other on the streets or in school but not afterwards. It was sad in Amity's opinion. She stopped as Luz slowed down so they wouldn't collide. Amity jumped a little as Luz turned around. It was still so weird to see her again. Here on the Boiling Isles and all real. Just in this moment the witch realized that she and the human girl were holding hands by now. Amity froze as her face grew red.
>>Amity? Are you okay?<<
>>I- uh yea. Why did you stopped?<<
>>I don't know where to go..<<
The human smiled awkwardly and lifted her shoulders. A tiny action that made Amity smile. She didn't utter to move her hand. It was fine for her to hold Luz's hand and so Amity tried not to move her own hand too much with the thoughts and hopes that the human hadn't noticed their hand holding yet. Luz didn't seem to mind as Amity took the lead again, her head still red.
