>>You?<<
Amity snapped back into reality. Find an excuse, quick! You got this! Amity tried to calm herself down to find an excuse, still waaay too close to Luz's face.
>>I lost the line I just read.<<
Stupid. That's a weak excuse, very weak. But strong enough for Luz to believe it. Wait what? How can she believe this?!!Luz told Amity to give her a sign when she found her line. After a short amount of time that felt like hours Amity shortly gave Luz a ,,Got it". She finished as fast as possible and gave Luz a sign to turn the page again. The human girl was biting her lip, eyes still fixed on the pages. The story was intense right now, which was clearly visible in Luz's eyes. She was sucked into the words as if she read the book for the first time. The childlike enthusiasm sparked over on Amity too. The acting was smooth and it was surprising how fast the scenes changed without it interrupting the story.
Luz laid her head back on Amity's arm, her hair tickling the witch's bare skin. With a smile she explained that her mouth was a bit dry. While finishing her sentence Luz jumped up and slid to the desk, grabbing a new water bottle to drink from. Amity didn't know how to react and just blankly stared at Luz, eyes wide open. A cheeky grin, a Jumpscare by Luz and a squeak from Amity later they sat next to each other again.
Unsure about her friend's reaction Amity lifted her right arm as some sort of invitation for Luz to come closer again. The human girl let out a joyful giggle as she hugged Amity, letting her head rest on the witch's shoulder. Staying in her side-hug-position Luz now asked for the book, her hazel eyes filled with excitement. A lot if excitement. As the witch progressed all the physical affection she felt for the book, her mind repeatedly shutting down. Amity.exe has stopped working.
An uncomfortable silence and some unsuccessful tries from Amity to find the book while staring at her own knees later she finally felt something. The edge of the book she supposed. Thankful for her luck Amity now opened the book, flipping through the pages while carefully eying Luz. The latter didn't notice. Huh, Amity was lucky again. Or not? She fell back into her own thoughts while flipping through the book.
What if Luz would've noticed? Then she could've told her about her honest feelings, bringing up all the courage she got to confess. What a dumb thought she almost said out loud, not sure if Luz liked her back. Maybe she even found someone in her own realm. Two years were a lot of time and Luz definitely didn't had to wait for her. It seemed like she didn't change a lot, but who knows. They only met like a days ago! Clearing her throat after coming back to reality Amity found the page they stopped on. So they read a few chapters again.
After like 3 to 5 chapters Amity decided to ask Luz about her life in the human realm. Her fingertips tapping the humans shoulder, they were still in this weird kinda side hug, she closed the book, careful not to catch Luz's fingers between the pages.
>>So uh, can I ask you something?<<
>>Sure! Whaddya wanna know?<<
>>In these years you weren't here, did you... found someone in the human realm? Y'know? Like love?<<
>>Actually...<<
A sharp pain unfolded in her chest. That's not a no. And why did she stop mid-sentence? What was she holding back for? Maybe Luz tried not to hurt Amity with telling her about her partner in the human realm. The pain in her chest grew but the witch was careful not to move in pain.>>I'm still quite the outcast at home. No real friends... or friends that don't live in other countries. That's why I felt so homesick I guess. I'm someone here. And all my friends are here! Willow, Gus, Eda and King! And you of course! But what about you? Did you found someoneee?<<
Amity felt a gigantic stone fall from her heart to vanish. But she flattered over her friend's question. Pretending not to see her smug grin Amity replied as cool as possible.
>>No, actually not. I mean, I have my standards and nobody here was fitting them until now.<<
