Monroe supported me as I climbed off of his bed before we walked back downstairs into the dining area where Evelyn sat holding a crystal glass of red wine. I glanced over and saw Monroe's father tossing a salad in the kitchen.
"So, Seven." Evelyn started, "Tell me about yourself."
"Well i'm just your average eighteen year old." I smiled at Monroe who rolled his eyes.
"Average eighteen your olds don't just get paired with vampires. I'd say you are far from ordinary." Eli laughed looking at me.
'The nervous pit in my stomach began to form as I thought of what to say. I hated talking about myself, and my testimony really isn't so glamorous.
"I love to write. I'm not close to either of my parents and I moved here less than a month ago with my aunt." I started trying to sum things up as broadly as I can.
"I just love Dana." Evelyn said, "She is a remarkable human."
"She is remarkable." I laughed.
"Her southern accent is just the cutest little thing I have ever heard," Evelyn went on.
"She is your typical southern bell." I smiled.
"You though, Seven, seem so rough around the edges yet you're so graceful. Where do you come from?" She asked in awe. Everyone stared at me as the sounds of pots and pans clashed together.
"I was born in Texas. My mother is Irish and my father is Haitian, but I never had him around to teach me much of the culture." I admitted while twisting the ring on my finger. I noticed Lacey wasn't here at all, but I'm not surprised, she can't stand me.
"I see. You really are an unique combination which is why you were chosen by Berenice." She smiled taking a sip out of her glass.
"I suppose." I said faintly.
Monroe's dad brought over plates and salad bowls to the table while one tray had huge steaks spread across it.
"We killed this cow today Seven." Sterling said. I looked at him not knowing what to say before Monroe's dad waved him off.
"No. We did not, we don't typically cook, but when we do, it's store bought. Don't mess with the girl." He said rolling his eyes the same way Monroe does before flashing me a smile. I returned a smile back to him.
Russo continued to fill everyone's bowls and plates. I looked down at the huge steak taking up most of the Chinaware.
"Seven, have you had the opportunity to talk to that wolf girl?" Mr. Cittadino asked me. I swalled nodding my head.
"Yes, but she said she'll think about it, considering she's pregnant." I said looking down at my plate.
"I see. Well even though things are unclear right now, we promise to be a guiding light for you through all of this, you have our word to be protected."
I nodded my head giving him a faint smile.
"When I used to live in New York I took a few culinary classes, it might seem ironic considering I only drink blood, however I love to cook." He went on smiling. You could tell it was something he was passionate about. He looked so happy and kind, it was hard to think that he actually killed Raymond's brother. He doesn't look capable, but I guess that's a big way vampires can deceive their prey.
"That's cool. My dad always loved to cook too." I said to him.
"Aside from witchcraft, Haitians have a natural knack for cooking." He said amusingly.
"I sure don't." I said making them chuckle.
"It's not an exact science," He laughed, "but anyone can learn."
