I opened my eyes seeing Monroe laying next to me staring at the wall. He looked like he was thinking in depth about something until his eyes met mine.
"Hey baby." He smiled, "How did you sleep?"
"I didn't dream about anything." I sighed in relief pulling myself up into a siting position. Today we meet with Monroe's other grandmother, who personally knew Berenice. I'm hoping she can help me the way she did Berenice, because this 'gift', which I wouldn't call it that, is freaking me out.
"Let's go get you some food." He smiled getting up off the bed. I pulled off the sheets and saw I was only in my bra and underwear. I gasped wrapping the sheet back around me. Monroe smirked.
"Did we..?" I asked confused not remembering anything after my shower.
"As much as I wanted to, no. Your little escapade had me scared, It wasn't exactly boner provoking." He sighed.
I let out a burst of laughter, "Did you say boner- provoking?"
"Just shut up and put some clothes on." He rolled his eyes letting out a small grin. I went into my bag on the floor and pulled out black sweatpants and a black sweatshirt. I then walked into the bathroom and brushed my hair. I saw my bruised wrists and rubbed my fingers across them. I still felt like I could feel a lingering connection to Monroe's mom. I was so close to her last night, I just wish I could have seen her, but they thought I was Roman. Which really threw me off guard. Now that i'm hearing I have a gift that allows me to communicate with the other side, is making my head spin.
I parted my hair down the middle as I always did letting my long dark hair fall just above my hips.
"Okay." I smiled meeting Monroe back in the bedroom. He planted a kiss on my lips and grabbed my hand leading me into the kitchen.
Lacey, Eli, and Sterling were all sitting at the bar while Monroe's dad was cooking, for only me, but I know he loves to cook.
"Goodmorning Seven." Evelyn smiled bringing a glass of iced coffee, "Monroe says you aren't much of a coffee drinker, but after last night I think it's a special occasion."
"Thank you Evelyn." I said thankfully.
"So, today we will be driving a few hours out of state. Seven you will have to let us know if you need to stop to use the bathroom, as we are not human, we will forget." Russo said making Eli and Sterling laugh.
"Okay." I laughed faintly.
"Good news is, my mother will be able to help us bring some sort of resolution to this." He continued. Monroe put his hand on my lower back smiling down at me.
"Great." I responded. The room was quiet as a faint noise of pots and pans clacked together. I truly hope Monroe's grandmother can help me.
"Seven? Can I talk to you?" I turned my head in shock to see lacey standing up by the front door waiting for my response. She looked like she was upset about something, her bitchy demeanor wasn't there at all.
Evelyn took a sip of her coffee while raising her eyebrows, before turning around. Monroe just stared at her trying to figure out what she was up to, while Eli and Sterling looked back and forth between the both of us.
"Sure." I answered hesitantly. She turned her head around flipping her black hair across her shoulders and started opening the big glass front door.
"Monroe there's windows everywhere, I promise she's safe." Lacey groaned snapping her neck back to look at him. I forgot she could read minds. I looked up at Monroe with a reassuring look and he gave me a short half smile, still in complete confusion.
She opened the door letting me walk out first. Then she sat down in the rocking chair on the front porch and gestured for me to sit as well. Her hair flowed behind her as the wind blew, and her golden eyes lit up from the dim light of the sun poking through the clouds. She was insanely beautiful. It would just help if her personality matched.
"So, I know we got off on more than a wrong foot, and I'm sorry I didn't give you a chance." She sighed. I sat there in silence waiting on her to finish. "I have to admit, I'm extremely envious."
"You? Envious of me?" I laughed. She was taken aback at first by my reaction and for once I saw the start of a smile on her face which surprised the both of us.
"You are human, you're gorgeous, and you have this whole life ahead of you." She continued.
"Well my human life, isn't as great as it seems." I sighed.
"Humans tend to take their lives for granted, forgetting that even breathing is a gift. Even though I'm immortal, all I have is an eternal life of murder and hunting in front of me." She stared out into the yard not making eye contact. Her lips quivered slightly.
"I mean, yeah you have to live this way for eternity, but you also have a mate waiting for you, that can give you kids. Living forever with the person you love doesn't seem so bad." I suggested.
"I don't open up to people, I absolutely hate it, but I feel like I owe it to you." She took a long sigh before continuing, "I'm scared of finding love. Everything ends, and I don't want to become so attached to someone, or children, and ever have to go through the pain of losing them." She said looking out at the trees as the wind blew through them elegantly.
"Well we have that in common." I said causing her to look up at me. "I may be human, but I hate opening up to people, and i've always been scared of love. I didn't want to be with anyone before meeting Monroe and I was angry and confused with myself on why I did want to be with him, I felt like I was setting myself up for failure, Considering my mom and dad were so good at it." I said sarcastically making her chuckle faintly to my surprise, "but when I met him, I obviously didn't know mates existed, or that I would ever be with anyone who loves me the way he does, but I found him, and it's a feeling that completely outweighs the fear. Even though I have all this hell going on around me, He has given me a reason to face it, instead of burying it. I want you to find that, and I know for sure your brothers and parents do."
She looked into my eyes sympathetically, "Seven, I'm just so sorry I had any part in being with someone who could do something so evil to your father, and I know that won't bring him back, but I really am sorry that I partook in hurting the woman my brother loves so much." Her face filled with guilt as she looked down at her hands, but she didn't cry. "I thought I could trust him."
"Hey, everyone dies." I said trying to make a joke to wave it off, "I mean not, you, or your family, okay, that was a bad joke." I sighed trying to wave it off making her laugh, "But, I forgive you." I reassured her making her smile.
"I like how you make jokes even when you're in pain." She said.
"It's a coping mechanism." I laughed.
"I'll try it out sometime." She smirked. We stood there for a second in silence, and then she walked towards me giving me a small hug. I was taken aback at first as her tall cold body hugged mine, but it made me smile. I hugged her back and when I looked through the window I saw Eli standing there mouthing something.
"What the Fuck?" He mouthed. I smirked as everyone else stared and smiled in confusion.
