"We surely will think something but till than be happy and don't be so gloomy otherwise everybody will get to know." said Cabir to Nandini.

"Is it this evident?"  asked Nandini.

"Obviously. Mukti was also saying that you were zoomed out somewhere all the time." said Cabir.

"Now don't think too much just smile, everything will be fine." Said Cabir to which Nandini smiled, then Cabir exited the room.

Next few days Nandini just kept thinking about Manik ignoring her studies unintentionally. She is not giving proper attention to her studies. Most of the time she is thinking that do manik love her or not. And Cabir was actually busy in analysing Manik's behaviour towards Nandini.

One fine day Nandini was sitting in drawing room, chit-chatting with Mukti and Cabir. Manik was not yet home due to his extra classes in school.

"And you know what...." Cabir was telling them one of the incident recently happened in his class but stopped listening Manik's voice.

"Nandini Nandini" called Manik entering the house.

"What happened Manik? Why are you shouting?" Asked Nandini standing and Manik came towards her.

"How was your science exam, you gave day before yesterday? " Asked Manik to which Nandini get startled.

"It was....  It was good yes it was good." Said Nandini stammering at first but later on put brave face.

"Oh really. That was good then you must be excepting good marks. No? " Asked Manik.

"Yes" said Nandini.

" Ohhkk. Then you tell me how much marks do you think you will get?" Asked Manik.

" Uhmm, I think I will get more than 35 out of 40." Said Nandini thinking for sometime.

"Then what the hell is this? " Shouted Manik taking out the paper from his pocket.

The paper Manik had was actually Nandini's answer sheet. Mukti and Cabir saw the sheet and actually got shocked.

"You are saying that your exam went well then how the hell did you get such a low marks. You are saying that you will get more than 35 and in reality you got only 15 marks, you just got passed by 2 marks otherwise you would have got failed." Asked Manik angrily listening which Nandini get scared and tears come in her eyes.

"Can I know the reason behind such a good result?" Asked Manik to which Nandini remained mum.

"I am asking something Nandini. Leave about marks but why did you lied? You could have said that but no you choose to lie. If you were having any problem you could have asked me." Said Manik.

"Sorry but I forgot all the answers in exam. It will not happen again. I will study harder this time. " Said Nandini with tears in her eyes. Manik saw tears in her eyes and went to his room without turning back.

"Stop crying nandu. It's ok don't cry." Said Cabir and Mukti. Mukti took her to her room.

Manik's room

"What is she even doing nowadays. She seems to be lost somewhere and she is not even concentrating on her studies. She is one of the brightest student then why she is not concentrating. Earlier whenever she had a doubt she used to run to me and asked her doubts." Thought Manik and at that time Cabir came into his room.

"Bhai why you scolded Nandini so much. You know how much she was crying. She will score good next time what's the need of scolding this much." Said Cabir to Manik.

"It's not about marks Cabir but she lied and you know one thing I can't stand with is lies and I did not even scold her as much as she is crying." said Manik.

"But she got scared with your scolding." Said Cabir.

"You must be joking Cabir. She got scared and that too from me. The thing you are saying is next to impossible." Said Manik to which Cabir laughed.

"But Bhai you should talk to her once, she was very sad." Said Cabir.

"Ok I will talk to her. Now you go and study otherwise you will get scolding." Said Manik to which Cabir ran from there.

Manik then headed towards Nandini's room. He was about to knock the door but door got open and Mukti came out.

"Bhai you here?" Asked Mukti.

"Ya, I came here to talk with Nandini." Said Manik.

"Bhai please don't scold her again. She is already very sad. And about her marks then she always tops in our class it's just this time that she got less score but it can happen to anyone. She will cover it up next time." Said Mukti.

"Mukti stop." Said Manik when he saw that Mukti is nowhere to stop.

"I will not eat her up. You are behaving as if I am some draculla and gonna murder her. Relax I will just talk with her, your best friend will be safe. Sometime I think both you and Cabir are her siblings instead of mine." Said Manik.

"Nothing like that Bhai. You both are equally important to me. It's just that she is very sensitive so don't scold her." Said Mukti.

"Ok Mam. I will follow your order. Now can I please go inside." Said Manik bowing his head in dramatic way to which Mukti gave him way.

Manik then entered the room and saw Nandini laying on bed with her head buried in pillow.

He went to bed and sat beside her.

" Nandini. Get up." Said Manik to which Nandini sat up instantly. He saw dried tears on her face and immediately regretted for shouting at her.

"Why are you crying? " Said Manik wiping her tears.

"Because you scolded me. I don't know Manik how but I really did forget all the answers during the exam." Said Nandini.

"Firstly stop crying."said Manik to which Nandini stopped her crying.

"Do you really think that I was angry because of your low marks just in one test." Asked Manik

"Then why were you angry?" Asked Nandini confusedly.

"If you got low marks it's no big deal you can cover it up next time but you could have said the truth. I asked you that day also but you said that your exam had gone well. I was angry because you lied." Said Manik.

"I got scared that you will scold me and I didn't thought you will get to know about this. But how did you get to know?" Said Nandini bending her head down.

"If you are forgetting then let me tell you, your science teacher is my chemistry teacher and she told me your and Mukti's marks." told Manik.

"Oh like that." Said Nandini.

"Yah like that. But Nandini that shouldn't happen again. If you have any problem come to me or to anyone in the family but don't ever lie again." Said Manik strictly.

"I promise, I will not lie again." Said Nandini pinching her throat.
