I flutter my eyes open but immediately shut them again, a really strong light is affecting my vision and isn't letting me open my eyes. I try once again, this time I lift my hand and put it over my eyes, so the light won't blind me.
What I see is trees and the light is the sun shining through them, I shift my body to the side so I can go back to sleep again and I stretch my arm to find the blanket to cover me up, yet I don't find the trunk of the tree where I was lying against and neither the blanket.
I brush the dirt and the sleep from my eyes and look around me, the snow is gone and I'm in the middle of a... well it's sort of a glade but at the same time it isn't. I look at the ground and see that the leaves are green as if it was spring and you can see small flowers that look like rosemary not too far from where I'm standing.
With the thought of that purple flower my mind goes instantly to Sarah, I'm about to call her out when I remember that she isn't with us anymore... us?
I move my head from one side to the other trying to see someone... anyone.
"Nathan?" I say or almost whisper in the hopes of him hearing me, but nothing, "Nathan." I try again, this time louder but I don't hear a reply.
"Beth?" I scream this time, but no sound comes from the forest, no answer, no reply, no nothing.
I decide to lift myself from the floor and to brush the dirt and leaves that are secured on my body, I survey the area but there isn't a single person around me or close by. You can hear a few birds singing and squirrels jumping from tree to tree and branch to branch.
"Nathan!? Beth!?" I try once more. Silence is the only reply I get and for a moment I think if I should call Ed and Dylan, but I think that they would probably ignore me no matter what. Those two aren't a good flower to smell yet they think that they are the best cookie of the package.
Ridiculous if you ask me.
Before rolling my eyes at the thought of those two idiots I decide to find them by my own since I don't plan to stay here alone, they probably left to find more food or anything like that, they thought that it would be easy and quick and they would be back before I woke up but yeah... that didn't happen.
Not even moving four steps from the original place I was in I stop and turn to look at the place I was lying on. Where is Lucy? She was traumatized with the fall.
But she isn't here, Ed, Nathan and Dylan could have gone to find food, but Lucy would stay behind with me and Beth would stay as well, probably to take care of her.
A gush of wind blows my hair to the front of my eyes, making it impossible for me to see even my hand. When the wind stops, and I finally can take my wild hair from my face what I see makes me stunned.
The scene before me has completely changed, the green leaves have turned yellow, red and brown, the branches on the trees are lacking leaves and fruits and the flowers are dying from the cold, in a nanosecond it went from spring to autumn.
What is happening here?
"Kate?" I hear someone saying my name, I twirl on my place and turn to face the way where the sound came but I don't see a thing.
"Hello?" I whisper so softly that it was impossible for anyone to hear so I cough and try again, "Is anyone there?"
I start walking further into the woods trying to find the person who is calling me, deep inside me there's something pulling me back, asking – no, begging me to turn around and run for my life, but the most curious side of me wants to see who knows my name, who is whispering it and why they are calling me.
