seokjin wasn't the wisest person when he was younger.

he had a shitty upbringing, which led to him being a bit of a shitty person.

he was smoking, drinking and partying by fifteen. and having sex by sixteen.

and then, a dad by seventeen.

jungkook was an accident, of course. but that doesn't mean jin loves him any less.

jin's parents threw him out when they found out he got someone pregnant. he moved into a rundown, leaky one bedroom flat with his girlfriend and prepared for the arrival of their son.

jin was an extremely hard worker. he worked long hours to make ends meet while his girlfriend stayed at home, "caring for the baby."

jin was so busy. so tired. he never noticed.

his girlfriend, sana, was starving herself. she became so weak that childbirth was too much for her. she died the day her son was born. the child was saved, leaving jin as a seventeen year old single father, living alone in a sketchy town in south korea. he had to drop out of school and was at risk of losing his job, the only thing that kept him going was his bundle of joy, his little jungkook.

now with him being twenty two and his little one just passed five, things seemed to be going a little smoother. jungkook was in school , making childcare a lot more sturdy. the school also offered a free service to keep jungkook busy for a few hours while jin finished up at his work. jin was recently promoted , allowing him to buy his first car. this made things a lot easier for both boys - and finally made seokjin feel proud of himself and his work.

he was now working on saving for a proper apartment and supporting jungkook, he didn't want him to grow up like he did - being the kid that couldn't afford field trips or the newest toys at christmas time  - he wasn't going to be spoilt sure, but comfortable, at least.

although work seemed to be going well, he recently got a new boss. it seems like this dude has something against seokjin. the old boss knew about jin's home situation and gave him lots of leeway around being late or days off, but this new guy just keeps threatening him.

"if you're not in on time tomorrow, you're fired."

seokjin shivered as he remembered the words his boss said to him yesterday. he arrived late once again after having to chat to jungkook's teacher, who was concerned about his lack of interaction with other students. the child was always shy, but now it's becoming a bigger issue - the shyness turned to anxiety and he becomes overwhelmed when talking to new people. as horrible as it sounds, jin just doesn't have the time to deal with it right now. his poor baby.

he rolled over in bed, gazing at the other side of the room. jungkook lay in his tiny single bed across from his dad. he was snoring gently, his face was flushed and he tossed and turned. jin frowned - he's not usually this unsettled.

he looked at the clock. 4am - he should really get to bed. he put his phone down and settled into the covers - the soft snoring of his son helping him to finally drift off after hours.

"daddy! my tummy hurts!" jungkook yelled into his ear, clutching his stomach. jin was awake instantly, assessing the situation.

"kookie? are you gonna-"

jungkook's mouth filled with saliva and he panicked, letting out a pained whimper. jin sprung into action and scooped the little one up, trying not to jostle him too much.
