Nights in the castle

Every night after dinner, Pidge and Hunk wanted to watch movies. Lance usually joined them, but he tried to get away from that now to visit Keith earlier than usual.

It all started a few weeks ago, they cleaned up the table, and Keith went back to his room, as always. It wasn't like he didn't like spending time with his friends, but he needed a few hours for himself as well.
That day, Lance made up an excuse not to stay for movies and followed Keith. It was the first night of many.

They found it difficult to spend time together without revealing their relatively new relationship to the team, so Lance was used to sneaking into his boyfriend's room at night.
"Can I sleep with you tonight?" Lance had said that first night when Keith opened the door.
"Don't you want to watch movies with them?" Keith asked.
"I'd rather be here."
Keith welcomed him into the room, sat on the bed and patted the spot next to him. This had been going on for weeks.

Both Keith and Lance wanted to see where the relationship would take them before making an announcement, but they weren't really that sneaky: Pidge had noticed how they looked at each other during training, Shiro had caught Lance braiding Keith's hair, and they would sit together at dinner so they could hold hands under the table.
But, sometimes, Keith would sneak into Lance's room. He was actually sneaky, so not even Lance could hear him coming until he knocked on the door softly.
"Keith!" He tried to speak low.
Keith stepped inside and held Lance by the waist.
"Up for a date? I planned something for you" he said, close to his lips before kissing him. Lance absolutely melted, and held onto Keith's neck.
The kiss deepened, and they both smiled against each other's lips before pulling away.

"A date, huh? I didn't know you were so romantic, Mullet" Lance teased.
"Shut up, Loverboy, you did this to me."
They laughed, still hugging, and then Lance kissed Keith's cheek before finally answering.
"I'd love to go on a date with you."

Lance let Keith guide him through the castle in silence, careful not to wake anyone. Their destination was the main room, which Keith had decorated with a lot of fairy lights. On the floor next to the biggest window, he had left a bunch of blankets and pillows.
"Babe" Lance gasped. "This... this is beautiful."
"Just like you" he smiled "come on, let's lie down, I brought snacks."
"Keith Kogane, I don't know what happened to you but I like it" Lance stated.
"I'm still an angsty lone wolf, this side of me is just for you" Keith defended himself, then dragged his boyfriend to the spot next to the window.
Lance laughed.
They kissed, cuddled and fell asleep looking at the stars, and the rest of the team would find them in the morning. But before they drifted off Lance had asked Keith something.
"So, gorgeous, what's the occasion?"
"What, I can't plan a date just because?" Keith replied and smiled as he tucked a lose strand of hair behind Lance's ear.
"You can, but honestly, what's the occasion?" he insisted.
And then, for the first time, Keith replied: "that I love you, McClain."

now i have to write a couple of AUs you guys requested, but idk if i'm gonna be able to keep this posting schedule for much longer because i start my second year of college on monday and i will probably be very busy. also, i'm gonna be doing inktober AND working on improving my digital art skills at the same time so idk if i'm gonna be able to manage everything, being an artist is time consuming lmao
