The bookstore (extra chapter, Keith's POV)

Time flies by. It seemed like our first kiss just happened but a year had passed already, and I had a great date planned.
A month before, I had booked tickets to the aquarium, because I loved to see my boyfriend's eyes light up when he was surrounded by the ocean. But that wasn't all, I had arranged for us to sleep there too, in the aquarium's tunnel. We would have little fish and ocean creatures swimming above and all around us as we fell asleep. It was the perfect date, the best thing being Lance had no idea.

The day arrived and he called me early in the morning.
"Hi babe!" I smiled "happy anniversary."
I knew he was smiling too.
"Happy anniversary, Keef. I love you" he said.
"I love you too, so much."
"So, what are we doing today?"
"Oh" I teased "wouldn't you like to know..."
He started laughing, but then I heard him cough.
"Are you okay, hun?" I asked him.
"Yeah, don't worry, just a little cold. It's nothing."
I really hoped that it was nothing, so I wished him a speedy recovery and I told him when I planned to pick him up. We said goodbye and he told me again that he loved me, which made me all giggly.
I got dressed and walked down the stairs, following the delicious smell of fresh brewed coffee.
"What are you so happy about?" Adam asked me.
Shiro and Adam got their own place two months ago, but my parents made them come for brunch on the weekends.
"It's his first anniversary with Lance today" Shiro replied before I could answer. Now my whole family was looking at me.
"We love that you guys are so happy with your boyfriends" my mom told Shiro and me.
Shiro held Adam's hand, and I replied for the both of us.
"We are, mom. We're in love."
"Aw, shut up" Shiro told me.
"What's that, Takashi? You don't love me?" Adam questioned my brother, half joking.
"Of course I do."
I laughed, Adam was the only one allowed to call Shiro by his full name, he had a soft spot for him.
Then I told my family my plans for today (even though I had told them already) and Shiro agreed to drive me to Lance's house.

Hours passed and it was almost time for me to leave. Then, unexpectedly, I got another call from Lance.
"Keith.."
I interrupted him. "Love, you sound horrible, are you okay?"
"That's what I'm calling about, babe. I've got a fever and -cough- I don't think I have enough strength to get up."
I gestured for Shiro to start the car while I packed up my stuff. "It's okay, Lance, we can reschedule."
"You sure?" He asked in between coughs.
"Of course! Your health is more important. I'm coming over, tho, see you in a minute."
I hung up before he could say anything, and I got in the car. On the way, I explained the change of plans to Shiro and handed Adam, who was in the backseat, the tickets to the aquarium.
"You two should go, Lance shouldn't leave the house today, he sounded really sick." They thanked me.

Rachel opened the door, even though she was barely tall enough to reach the doorknob.
"Keith!" She exclaimed, and she grabbed me with her little hands to take me to the couch where Lance was sleeping.
He was hugging his legs, his knees up to his chest and under a pile of blankets. It pained me to see him like this, so pale and ill.
"Kiss him to make it better, Keith!" Rachel told me.
"Do you think he'll feel better if I give him a kiss?" I asked her.
"Yes!" She sounded really worried, poor kid. "He loves you!"
I told Rachel that I loved him too and I kneeled beside him to put a hand on his cheek, he was burning up. I gave him a peck on the lips.
"Nooo" he mumbled, now barely awake. "I don't want you to get sick too."
"It's okay" I kissed him again. "I'm staying here with you. Where's Veronica?"
"She went to buy chicken broth for his soup" Rachel said. I nodded.
I got under the blankets and sat down next to Lance without letting go of his hand.
"You'll get sick, babe" he said in a whisper.
"I'm not going home, I already told you." I squeezed his hand.
Rachel turned on TV and started watching her cartoons, less worried now that I was there.

After a little bit, Veronica returned with the broth. I had been caressing Lance's arm and covering his hand in little kisses until he fell asleep again, so I had to untangle myself from the blankets to get up.
"Oh! Hey, Keith" Veronica greeted me "I didn't know you were coming."
"Yeah, sorry about that" I started helping her with the groceries "we had a date today, you know, anniversary " I blushed "but he sounded so sick on the phone..."
"Don't be sorry, Keith, you're always welcome here" she smiled at me.
"So it's okay if I stay overnight?"
She nodded as she put a pot on the stove and poured broth on it.
"Wake him up, will you? The soup will be done soon."
I walked over to the couch and ran my hand through Lance's hair.
"Baby, wake up..." I kept my voice low. "Your sister made chicken soup for you, it'll help you feel better."
I helped him sit up, then sat next to him. While we waited for his soup, Lance rested his head on my shoulder.
"Thanks for coming" he said. I replied that I loved him, and then Veronica brought us a tray with his soup and a sandwich for me. We thanked her.
"Do you think you can handle this yourself, Keith? I should take Rachel to bed" Veronica asked me.
"Yeah, no problem, I'll take care of Lance."

I helped him eat, then ate dinner myself. Afterwards, because he was visibly feeling better, we walked upstairs and into his room. I also felt better seeing he was able to stand up by himself.
"That soup was magic" he mentioned.
"Yeah" I agreed. "I'm going to change, I'll sleep in one of your sweatshirts."
"Woah"
"What?"
"You look gorgeous, Keith"
I guess he was too sick to notice that I was dressed kinda fancy for the date I had planned.
"I feel bad we had to reschedule, you put a lot of effort into it."
I tucked him in his bed before answering.
"It's okay, really. I'm just glad to be here with you" I kissed him softly.
He kept apologizing while I got changed, but he stopped the moment I got in bed with him.
"Shush. We can go out when you feel better."
"Okay, thank you."
"You should sleep, hun" I suggested.
"Are you staying?"
I held him tighter.
"Yeah, I'm not going anywhere."
I kissed him once more, on the lips and then on the forehead.
"Rest well, my love."
And he fell asleep in my arms.

Yes, hello, I did not forget to post. It's 4AM for me and I was debating whether to post this chapter or another one I have ready, but finally decided on this one

This was a request, so I really hope I met your expectations (thanks for making a suggestion!) I squeezed some adashi into it hehe
