I had the small piece of paper in between my fingers as I thought of giving Elijah a quick text. I felt as if it was too soon. Was it?

I shouldn't care.

And I didn't. So I reached over to grab my phone and typed in the number before composing a message.

You dead yet?- Sent

I hit send without thinking twice about it because I knew that the more that I thought about it the more I would start overthinking about making any move at all.

I didn't hear much noise coming from outside of the living room so I assumed that they must've fallen asleep. I was kind of relieved that they were being respectful. I know Nolan would have bursted into my room and would have made it impossible for me to go to sleep. But he wasn't visiting alone so I figured he didn't want to make Ares feel out of place.

I waited a couple of minutes just staring at the ceiling. Tomorrow was the last day of a dreadful week of work and I had to get myself to go to sleep.

I forced my eyes closed and tried not to open them for whatever reason. For a few moments, my eyelids did start feeling heavier and heavier, but that worn out feeling faded away when I felt my phone vibrate against my sheets.

I reached my hand out and winced as the bright screen hit my face. Lowering the brightness down, I accidentally clicked on the message.

"Fuck. "I said to myself. I was planning on answering him first thing tomorrow morning. I didn't want him thinking that I couldn't fall asleep.

"Who's this?" The message said.

Um who else? -sent

I was just kidding. But hey don't say that. You would die if something happened to me.- Elijah

I laughed a little realizing how ridiculous this man is.

Right. No yea, totally.-sent

That's cute. Thanks for shooting me a quick text. Didn't think you would.- Elijah

You're right. I wasn't. I accidentally sent the message.- sent

Ah but you still took the time to type it out. That is more than enough. -Elijah

Whatever. Goodnight.- sent

Sweet dreams beautiful. - Elijah

My fingers hovered over the screen as I thought about whether I should reply back to him. I kept reading the message over and over again and felt myself feel all warm inside. I quickly disregarded any emotions and decided to lock my phone. It was best if I just left it at that.

As I continued turning in bed, I finally found a good spot to rest my head on the pillow and once again decided to force myself to drift to sleep. And I did.

I groaned as I stretched out in my bed. The smell of eggs filled my nostrils. I had not yet opened my eyes fully. Until the smell of something burning alerted me and I quickly rose up from my bed.

"Nolan." I shouted as I grabbed the nearest robe and sprinted out of the room.

I opened the door and I couldn't even see clearly through the smoke.

I followed the direction the smoke was coming from. I knew it was the kitchen anyways because where else could these idiots have started burning stuff?

"Nolan? Please explain to me what you are doing. Oh." As I was about to start yelling at him, I saw the detailed pancakes set aside with a smiley face made out of blueberries. I also noticed Ares trying to disperse the smoke out by opening the kitchen window. Nolan was blowing on the burned toast.
