* Further on, I will make a quick reminder if you are lost with what has happened so far in the story. Just hold on.*

--

I turned around to look at may but she was already behind me. I opened the door and Elijah handed me his hoodie.

"Um what is this for?" I said looking confused.

"Just make sure to cover your face. I told you I didn't want you involved and if they know who you are they will come after you to." I put on the hoodie and I saw jack hand may a pair of sunglasses to hide behind.

Jack asked a waitress if they had an exit door and she pointed towards the back of the kitchen.

Jack ran towards the door first making sure it wasn't locked. He stepped out and signaled for us to follow.

Elijah was the last one out and we stayed on the back of the building while Jack checked who had followed us.

"I think its Marks guys." Jack said unlocking his phone.

"You mean Dominic?" Maybelline said sliding down the wall.

"Same person different names." Elijah said from the other side of the corner.

"Damon where are you?" Jack said leaning against the wall as well. I looked over to Elijah as he looked at Jack with a pissed off expression.

"Obviously I'm not armed fucker. Get the information out of Travis and call me back later." Jack hung up and told us that it was best if we ran to our cars as quickly as we could.

"We have to go different ways so they only get to follow one of us. We'll call you guys back later." Jack grabbed Mays hand and they started speed walking with their heads down.

My back was still against the brick wall waiting for May and jack to get into their car. My breathing was still uneven but I managed to hold up.

"I need you to follow my lead and keep your head down."

"Oh and one more thing. Hand over your keys. I'm driving." With trembling hands I managed to get my keys out of the side pocket of my romper and immediately we started walking towards my car. Elijah was quick to open up the door for me and he ran to the drivers seat while I buckled up.

I could already feel nauseous as the heat inside the car didn't make my panicking situation any easier.

Elijah turned on the car and got out of the parking area earning a screech of the car wheels as he quickly drove off.

"Oh you're panicking again. Hold on I think there's an alley way down another block." I held on the seatbelt as he tightened his grip around the steering wheel making his knuckles turn white.

I checked the rear window and I saw a black Honda follow us not so far behind. This made Elijah cross a red light speeding off into a driveway through Walgreens to turn the car back around. I leaned my head back with my eyes shut until the car stopped moving.

I opened my eyes back again to see a few houses all around us.

"Well I think we lost them." Elijah said looking over at me.

I simply nodded and took deep breathes.

"Hey look at me." He genuinely said. I managed to make eye contact as he grabbed onto my left hand.

"I hope you know this is why I was gone for a while. It's not safe for you to be seen with me or anywhere near me." His eyes seemed to examine my facial expression but he couldn't seem to read it.

"I want to be completely honest with you. I have many people who are after me and my brother over something we didn't choose to do. Unfortunately our mother passed away and we had to do something to continue to provide for ourselves. We took over our fathers job shortly after he disappeared. Damon thinks he's dead but I chose to believe so otherwise. Now Harrison our uncle is after to take over our dads job and if he manages to succeed he'll pretty much rule the streets and use his company to overcome higher organizations."

"Isn't he the one in charge of the magnolia department?" The least I could do was pretend to want to know something I already knew. I couldn't tell him anything yet. It would complicate things even more.

"Yes. But he hides behind authors who the the dirty work for him. He has authors and publishers run the headlines of news that he uses against other gangs. He pays them enough to hide the fact that he runs a gang himself. But that doesn't matter right now. I just want you to know that unfortunately you're already part of this mess and I will understand if this is the last time you want to see me again. At least for now." He said. His blue eyes looking back up at me and then to our locked hands.

"You've told me a lot already and I'm pretty sure that's not even half of the story. All I know is that I really need you to drop me off at Alex's House. I usually talk to her and ask for any help and it seems as if she has been quite distant too." I said looking straight at him.

"Alright I guess I can go walking from her house." He says starting the engine.

"No You can drop me off and take the car. It's not safe to go back to your own house." I tell him.

"Well then I guess no one will notice if I'm driving around in this thing. Plus i have to go see where Damon is staying at." He starts driving off again and I simply hope Alex is home so I don't have to walk and take a bus back home.

--

We arrive to Alex's house and I open the car door to get out.

I had expected Elijah to drive off immediately but instead he gets out of the car too.

He manages to push me so my back is facing the car trunk and his tall figure is overlapping me.

My eyes dart from his chest to his eyes as he moves my chin up with his bare hands so I can face him.

"I hope you know you mean something to me and I wouldn't know what to do if you were ever in danger." He says looking at me with a straight face.

Before I could say something his phone starts ringing and he answers. I start walking towards Alex's door ready to knock when I hear a crash inside her house.

Elijah hangs up and gets into my car.

"It was Damon. Call me as soon as you get home doll. Wouldn't want to worry about anything happening to you." I simply smile with all the strength i had left and with that he drove off.

I knocked on Alex's door around five times until I noticed it wasn't locked.

As I locked inside, not a single light was turned on to illuminate the dark room. I stepped in quietly as I locked the door behind my quietly. I stood there for a few more seconds until I heard a muffled cry come from upstairs.

I made my way to Alex's room and noticed the pictures hanging from her walls were shattered in pieces.

The crying became louder and so did the crashing of objects.

"Alex?" I said loud enough so she could hear.

Her back was faced towards me and when she heard her name being called she stopped herself from crashing the portrait in her hands. She faced me and threw the picture to the ground as she ran to embrace me in a hug.

Seeing her like this was never often. It was rare. In fact I was surprised because she never seems to look vulnerable. Yet here she was. Her crying had stopped and the room had become silent. So silent I could hear her heart shatter into more pieces.

"She lied to me." Alex says letting me go and walking towards the edge of her bed to sit down.

"I'm sorry baby I'm not following." I said walking towards her to take a seat making sure I wouldn't step on any shattered glass.

"My mother did." She said looking down to her feet.

"How come?" I ask her gently touching her back.

"Matthew was never my father. It turns out me and Andres are from the same dad. Expect Jason. He's our step brother." She says chocking on her own tears.
