OBLIGATION

Though he still very much loved Amara, Tor felt obligated to Akilah because of their history together and the promises he had made to her during their trying times. She had been by his side since day one and it was only fair he tried to make it work with her. They had been through a lot together and that lot came from either of them or both of them or outside forces but they both worked it through and moved on. That's why he was doing his best to ignore and bury what he felt for Amara. Sure they shared a bond but it could not compare to what he had with Akilah, he believed.

' Hey dad. I thought you took the twins back earlier today?'

' Since I got them Friday late, I thought I could spend today with them too. You don't mind me taking them to Amara's with you or would you rather go home?'

' No it's okay. I've always wanted to see this Amara mom keeps complaining about.'

Tor was unaware that his wife was complaining to her son about Amara, she seemed to be getting over his affair.

' I didn't know that.'

' How?, when she's always moody when the twins are around and doesn't ever help you with them unless you ask. She goes out with her girls every chance she gets when the twins are around, I mean.'

' I've noticed that but I never thought it was because of the twins since she doesn't go out every weekend but she could have just told me.'

Akon shrug his shoulders and continued typing away on his phone. Soon they were infront of the bridal store and he helped him with the twins and their belongings.

' Oh hi, I guess you must be Akon, I'm Amara.'

' Dad never mentioned that you were the Nubian queen herself. True black onyx.'

Amara tried to hide her smile. Thank God for the abundant melanin that hid her blushing. Like any woman, she lived getting compliments.

' He's definitely your son. How were they?'

' Except for their constant fighting,good.'

' Well thanks for bringing them over. We're going to visit the ladies this weekend so you don't need to come pick them up.'

' Oh_ ohk. Mlu and Rich will be there?'

' It's RJ's birthday party, so yeah. I thought Rich would've sent you an invite?'

In the four years they had known each other, Tor had come to know her friends and become close friends with their husband's. He had formed a brotherly bond with them and they were not happy about what he had done. They let him know how they felt too and he had received the invite to the birthday party from Richard but was not going to go because of Akilah.

' I see why mom feels some type of way about her and why you fell for her, she's beautiful.'

He shook his head at his son, he was still young and still had a long way to go before understanding that a body is not only what attracts a man like him to a woman. There's a lot he wanted, beauty was just a bonus.
