Two minutes felt like two hours as Tor waited somewhat patiently in the gallery patiently waiting for his wife's case to begin. He had intentionally come thirty minutes early so he would not miss anything. He noticed his mother come in just as Akilah came in. Dressed in orange with shackles on her wrists and ankles. She looked emaciated and exhausted like she had not slept since being arrested four months ago. Afia was arrested too because when Akilah was being arrested she gave the police her accomplices. Who happened to be Afia and his mother.  His mother has money and could afford a good lawyer. They were not able to get the charges to stick. He on the other hand was not about to pay for Akilah's lawyer.

" All rise for the honourable judge Lunga."

An elderly looking judge walked into the courtroom and instructed everybody to sit after she was seated.

"This court is now in session."

In all his years of existence he never thought he would be seated in a court for any reason. Akilah smile and wave when she noticed him as the judge entered and he did not reciprocate her gestures. With disappointment on her face she turned back towards the judge. Due to the backlog in the courts it took Akilah's bail hearing four months to be heard.

" This is our first case...."

He sat silently listening to the judge and Bailiff before the defense and prosecution replied that they were ready. The defense made opening statements and before prosecution spoke, Akon walked in and sat next to him. Since his mother's arrest he has been staying with him and surprisingly Akon had no hard feelings towards him or Amara.

" Bail is set at five thousand..."

They both walked out as soon as the judge ruled.

" Tor? Tor son wait."

Reluctantly he stopped to listen to the woman he was starting to despise. Although she had no direct involvement in anything that happened to Amara and his children he was hurt that she would give Akilah such advice. In her arrest Afia also sang like a canary about what her bestfriend had done from the bleach incident to the food poisoning to the attack. While Akilah revealed who helped her.

" What do you want Tabitha?."

" I know you're dissapointed in me but you will respect me as your mother."

" My mother? You don't deserve that title after you tried to kill my children. What kind of a mother hurts her own child and grandchildren.?"

" Son Akilah foole-"

" Don't you dare! You're not a child to be deceived!"

" She lied about-"

" Don't you dare try to excuse your behaviour you deliberately did this to my children and I disown you as my mother. You're nothing to me and like I said the last time, don't ever contact me."

" Tor son but the courts acquitted me. I've done nothing wrong."

" They might believe your act but I will never ever believe you or forgive you for this."

" Honey please..."

"You're dead to me!"

His heart was cold to his mother who begged him in tears to forgive her but he ignored her cries and continued on his journey without looking back. His phone rang just as he dropped off Akon at his biological father's house, he immediately declined it.
