                 Going back through the portal was easy. Too easy. The Force didn't want Ben there so it kicked him right out. Ben was ready for something to attack them, jumping from the shadows and pull him back through the portal, kicking and screaming.
But he wasn't prepared for Rey to collapse against him. She had fainted from sheer exhaustion.
Ben still had excellent reflexes and caught her before she went down. For a brief heart stopping moment he thought she'd died and he'd lose her again. He couldn't go through that again! "Rey , no!"
She stirred in his arms and he let out an audible sigh and kissed her cheek. It felt warm. Thank the Force!
He carried her up the path and into the large cave above. He carefully walked over to the small pool and sat down on its ledge. Holding her on his lap , he waited for her to wake up. Rey had the side of her face pressed up against his chest and she could hear his heart hammering from within. His arms were wrapped protectively around her and she snuggled close, breathing in his manly scent. She turned slightly in his lap so she could reach up and run her fingers through his thick luxurious hair. She had been dreaming of running her fingers though it. She angles her face up to his and touched his cheek and they are drawn together like a magnet. It's been so long since they held each other. They feel like starving animals at a banquet. Ben digs his fingers into her clothes and relishes the taste of her lips. He must tell her how he feels. " I love you Rey!" He murmured into her neck , his hot breath sending delicious shivers down her back. She looked deep into his eyes and had her own Solo moment. "I know, I love you too!"
"Can you stand now ? We gotta get out of here." Stand? After those kisses? She won't be able to walk for weeks! She manages to stand with his help and her belly nudges his leg. His eyes are drawn down to the roundness of her stomach. She takes his hand and places it on top of where their baby is . His eyes go wide and his breathing is heavy. Tears fill his eyes and he goes down on his knees and places his head on her stomach. Rey's own tears fall on Ben's head. They can now be a family. It's all she's ever wanted.
Ben stands up and put his arms around Rey's shoulders and starts to walk but Rey pulls away as turns towards the pool. Something had got her attention and she's drawn to it. There in its depths is her face looking up at her. Master Skywalker in the middle and Ben on the other side. He turns to look at what has drawn her attention away from him and his jaw drops. There is no mistaking the likeness.
As they stare into the water it starts to ripple and for a moment they can no longer see their faces. When it cleared they were amazed to see the figures in grey robes. No longer black and white. They were the balance. They were supposed to be there at that exact moment. The Force directed their path. This was a confirmation that they were to bring stability and coherence to the galaxy.
Grabbing Rey's hand they rushed out of the cave . Ben feels the wind on his face is is grateful to be alive! Looking down the cliff they can see the Millennium Falcon waiting for their return. He remembers not so long ago he had called it a hunk of junk and ordered it blown from the sky. Now it is the most beautiful ship he's ever seen. Rey put her hand on his chest to stop him. She must warn him about what lies ahead. " Let me go in first. I've got my friends on board and they have no idea it's you I've come for." She cautioned. "I don't know how they'll handle it."
They slowly made their way down the treacherous mountain path. Blue butterflies fluttering around their heads. Rey's mind was in a turmoil, uncertainty plaguing her mind. She looked up and saw the sky had cleared and a rainbow had formed over the Falcon. If she had believed in signs , she'd have thought that it was a good one. It told her everything was going to be O.K. eventually. That gave her the courage to get over the inevitable.
