So I loved you because the entire universe conspired to help me find you...... Paulo Coelho , the Alchemist
The candle Rey had been reading by had almost burnt itself out. It quivered and sputtered casting odd shadows across the room. Darkness had fallen, and outside the haunting cries of Tatooine Howlers could be heard over the relentless, ever present wind. Rey had been pouring over the ancient Jedi texts for the hundredth time and came up with nothing. She was beyond frustrated. Why were they letting her down? Was it something she was doing wrong? Was she misinterpreting the runes. They would not give up there secrets with out a fight and she was not done fighting. Never! Ben still needed her just as much as she needed him.
Being a part of a Dyad meant that you could alway feel the other person, they were literally your other half. And being separated was like a open wound that would never heal. She yearned for him like nothing she'd ever felt before. All the cold nights, alone and hungry felt nothing like this. Now that she knew she was a part of a Dyad, that she was always a part of someone else made her ache for his nearness. To feel his lips on hers again was what kept her motivated and determined to get him back.
But all was not as bad as she thought. He was able to communicate with her through their Force bond. They could not physically touch each other like before, but just to talk to him was enough to keep her from mourning what could have been.
He could still feel what she was feeling and he knew she was exhausted and confused, plus being sick from early stages of pregnancy didn't help matters. "Your tired, go to sleep for awhile sweetheart." Rey couldn't even make it to her bed, she just placed her head on a book and fell into a deep sleep.
Her dreams are disjointed and foggy. Soaring through the clouds in the Millennium Falcon with Han Solo and Chewbacca, feeling free and happy, then her dream turns into a dark and foreboding nightmare.
Cruel milky eyes stare at her, she hears wicked laughter that makes her skin prickle and her hands go ice cold. She feels desolate and resignation. Emperor Palpatine , her own grandfather, is forcing her to turn her back on every thing to save it. Then to her amazement, she senses Ben. He has come to help her, to make amends for his actions. To prove to her she's not alone. They can see each other over their bond . His whole countenance had changed. He looked like a new person. He had turned! Now it was time to take down the most feared creature in the galaxy once and for all.
In a heartbeat he is at her side. His eyes convey his readiness. 'Bring it on!'. But Palpatine has discovered their secret. When Rey transfers a lightsaber to Ben through their Force Bond they were revealed. He uses their Dyad against them and sucks out their life force. He renewed himself, leaving them for dead.
But Palpatine misjudged Ben's courage, bravery and fortitude. His strength! Ben wasn't about to let this villain win! Ben struggles to stand, coming to his full height. It pulls Palpatine's gaze away from Rey, saving her from more abuse. Palpatine grimaces and lifts Ben off his feet with ease and hurls him down into a crevice. Ben hits the ground hard, breaking several ribs then tumbles into the darkness.
Meanwhile, Rey has come to and has to fight her grandfather to the death. She has help from all the Jedi that came before her. She uses their strength because she has been terribly weakened. Using both Luke and Leia lightsabers she is able to force back the lightning that Palpatine is using against her. Her power with the Force is strongest and in a blaze of lightening Palpatine is melted into nothingness.
Looking around for her Dyad, she sees nothing but the empty Sith Cathedral. Where is Ben ? She reaches out to him through their bond but feels nothing. Her legs give out from underneath her and she collapsed to the ground.
A hand grasped the ledge of the crevice and pulled out a battered and broken Ben Solo. He could not sense Rey at all, and must get back to the surface to find her immediately! There was no time to lose! Then he saw her, she was laying on her side, unmoving. She was still, too still. Ben stumble and fell, ignoring his own pain , it took everything he had left to reach her. He gathered her up in his arms and looked down at her face. He won't accept what he sees. Blank staring eyes looking past him, the light extinguished.
No! His mind won't except this, it won't take it in. This can't be happening! Not to her! Embracing her motionless form and pressing her up to to his chest, he thinks this is the one and only time he'll ever get to hold her. Why did they waste so much time fighting? Why did they not except their connection sooner? He needs to think fast. The Force hasn't come to claim her yet. He won't let it happen, not when they finally made the connection, found out about how special they are.
As his mind races, a thought comes to him like a bolt of lightening. A voice of his grandfather Anikin speaks to him , reaching out to help his grandson. "You can heal her. She healed you, you know how! Do what I couldn't". He knows it will end him, but he will do it anyway. Sacrificing yourself for the one you love is the greatest act of LOVE in the universe.
Without hesitation Ben cradles Rey's head in his left and and places his right hand on her stomach. He slows down his breathing and wills his heart not to break. Tuning into the Force he begins to transfer the rest of his life essence into her. Into the woman he has grown to love and respect. Yes, he loves her !!! The man who showed no mercy,no emotion, or benevolence, is now feeling emotions on such a level he can hardly comprehend them.
He now understands that Darth Vader's version of love was selfish and possessive. Love does not equal forcing and manipulating. But now he knew how to fix it. Give Rey back to the Galaxy! She was never afraid of his darkness or the demons who danced in his eyes.
He thought that no one could ever love him if he revealed what lurked inside.
He always knew he was different, how could anyone understand?
But she was never afraid of his dark side or the beast within the man..... unknown author
