Your body is away from me
But there is a window open from my heart
To yours. ....RumiAfter only a few bites of her meal , Rey sets it aside, unable to bear the strange smell . It turns her stomach and it makes her feel queasy. Instead she turns her attention to the Jedi texts she has in her possession. She hopes they will give up their secrets . Help her learn how to find and retrieve someone who has gone to the world of Spirits but not become one with the Force. She reads until her eyes burn and exhaustion over takes her. The candle she'd been reading to sputters and dies , leaving her in a darkened room. ******
The next morning.......
Slants of sunlight filter through a window grill and onto the sleeping form of a beautiful young woman. Her head resting on a ancient tome like a pillow. Beeps and whistles from BB8 slowly invade Rey's brain. Sitting up takes effort with a stiff and sore neck. Trying to stand, Rey becomes dizzy and a wave of nausea assails her. BB8 quickly retreated out of Rey's way as she stumbles to a basin and heaves. Beads of sweat form on her brow, not from the intense heat of the morning or a bad meal but from something else. Something so incredible, so unbelievable and unexpected that I brings her to her knees. A feeling of the same cool water pours over her head and goes straight into her heart. The Force whispers to her that she has a new life beginning within her. Put there by Ben.
Happy tears well up and spill down her cheeks. Breathing in gasps she tries to take it all in. Thinking back to when it all began. The memories are what keeps her going. Her thoughts wandered back to the tall man with shaggy black hair and expressive brown eyes that always look haunted and guarded. When he took off his mask she was always a little taken aback to see such a gentle face. She knew now what he was trying to hide from the world. His true self was being suffocated by that hateful mask. He had to wear it to present a hardened , unfeeling , evil person that he wasn't. She knew what was under the mask. She would always remember his soulful eyes. How beautiful they were.......still are!He carried himself like a prince. Outwardly confidant and cruel, but inwardly just as confused and lonely as she. She would have given just about anything to have had a few more precious moments with him before he vanished. She felt like a part of herself disappeared with him. She hoped it was giving him comfort now, where ever he was.
Her mind drifted further back to the to the time they first encountered one another. He had kidnapped her and carried her into his ship. Even then he felt like she was important to him, more than just to get information about Skywalker . He just hadn't figured it out yet. But there was definitely something there. This time it was personal.
He had gently placed her in an interrogation chair and waited for her to wake up. While her waited he watched her. He realized his fists had unclenched and his breathing had slowed. He felt relaxed in her presence which he hadn't felt in a very long time. He was calm and composed, which was unsettling to him. He was always on his guard, keeping his thoughts closed. He couldn't risk Snoke reading his mind. He kept his helmet on so when she came to, she'd see a intimidating and threatening man. He hoped she wouldn't resist his interrogation , he really didn't want to have to hurt her.
He wasn't intending to take off the mask , but she provoked him calling him a creature in a mask. They had a mind reading tug of war. Pulling at memories that they wanted to keep repressed and unseen, especially from each other.
His mind probing was not gentle. He was relentless until he got what he needed. But also more than he bargained for. He saw her loneliness, her desperation to know who her parents were. She fought him until a strange thing happened. The Force bridged their minds and she was able to see his insecurities and hidden fears. He didn't like that.
Later , when she saw Kylo Ren run his lightsaber through Han Solo, she was devastated. She couldn't believe he would hate his father so much. In truth, he didn't hate his father at all , he was trying to kill the pain.
She felt like she had to avenge Han and confronted Kylo in the forest, on Star Killer Base. Luke's lightsaber flew out of the snow, flying past Kylo , and into her hand. Surprising them both. They dueled and she held her ground, even though she had no training. Kylo was mesmerized by her skills and her special abilities. He knew she needed a teacher and offered to teach her the ways of the Force. Little did she know that when that saber flew into her hand it was setting her feet on a path that would change the course of her life.
