Ben finds himself in a strange yet beautiful new world. There was a large ,expansive bridge in front of him and he walked towards it feeling compelled to cross it. He joined other humans and galactic creatures all crossing the bridge. They were permitted to go all the way across and were met by a glowing being at the other side and were escorted through a door.
Ben followed the crowd but was stopped by an unseen barrier when he only reached half way. He didn't feel worried, just intrigued. His curiosity grew when he saw the portal he had just come through. Walking back to it he looked through a window showing him the exact spot where he had faded away. Rey was still there sitting in the place where he had given his life for hers. He could not leave her with nothing! Calling out through time and space he sent her a message: "You were worth it!"
Her head shot up when she heard his voice. Her tears were falling like a waterfall. Was she imagining it or was her grief so overwhelming that his voice was her imagination? No , it was real! He had given her a clue , a reason to believe he wasn't gone for good.
A glowing light from behind him made Ben turn around and suck in his breath. There, surrounded by a heavenly light was his mother Leia. Her face showed love and compassion. The last time he saw his mother alive was when she was sending him away to train with her brother, Uncle Luke. He'd been only a boy then and eager to leave home. Some of that eagerness was the result of overhearing his parents talking about him and not in a good way. Han was often away and Leia had important civic responsibilities to attend to. She couldn't handle Ben alone. Sometimes he even scared her with his dark side tendencies.
It was better for him to go to Luke who could train him and keep him under control. They thought they were doing the right thing. He thought they were trying to get rid of him, of course that wasn't true.
"Mom," he stammers. "Where am I?" " what am I doing here?" She looks at him tenderly, "My sweet son, you are in a sorting place. A place where everything in the universe come to after they die. They will be judged for all the good and bad they did in their lives. The Force chooses where they will end up. You are being held back because the Force doesn't know what to do with you. You came here to early. It's not ready for you. You could still have a chance to return to Rey but you need to learn a few things before you are ready to live again."
He was so relieved to hear he wasn't irredeemable . He was ready to do whatever it took to get back to Rey . Another glowing figure approached them. His Uncle Luke smile serenely up at Ben. "You will be visited by three Force ghost spirits. They will teach you and help you go down the correct path. I'm not allowed to teach you because of our history. I had my chance with you and failed. I am so sorry I didn't understand you. I'm ashamed that I didn't trust you, my own nephew." " I feel I'm partly responsible for your turning to the dark. It was Rey that saw there was a spark still left inside of you. She was right all along.
