The Confession

She'd come up with absolutely nothing. The texts would not give up their secrets. How was she going to tell him? Night after lonely night she'd stare at the ceiling , holding his tunic to her face, rubbing the soft fabric to her cheek and listen to the howling wind blowing gritty sand against the outer walls of the compound. In her mind she'd play out how she would tell him and his reaction. He'd be devastated . Disappointed in her . Angry at her for not trying hard enough. He'd cut her off completely and ignore her forever. And that was just her telling him he'd have to stay where he was. He couldn't come home.

What about the other problem? She had come to terms with it . She had too, but it still terrified her. How would he react to her news? That he was going to be a father and not ever able to see it or be in its life?
She'd gone over and over the Jedi texts and could not find anything that would work for their unique situation. Rey had been living in Luke's old home stead for over three months now. She knew the next time she felt Ben trying to contact her she'd have to tell him. She thought to try to contact him first but every time she tried she lost her nerve. She didn't want to here the disappointment in his voice.
But she was determined that the next time he made contact with her she would definitely tell him everything . She didn't have to wait long .
The wind was blowing hard in her ears as she tried to fix a broken hydrometer. It was just a few steps outdoors and she had her lightsaber just incase unwanted visitors came to call. The noise in her ears suddenly stopped as she turned to the sound of rushing water. By the sound of it , was it a flash flood ? There was no place on this whole dry baked planet with that much water.
"Rey?" Came a soft whisper. "Are you there?" Her heart soared! "Yes, I'm here!" It was difficult to hear him, the connection was so delicate. Ben spoke quickly. "How are you ? I miss you ?" She couldn't stop the tears from burning her cheeks , her heart straining as she tried to control herself. "I miss you to, so much." Here was the time she had been dreading, but it was now or never. "Ben , I have some news for you. I don't know how to tell you it's so incredible. I still can't believe it. Do you want the bad new first or the good news?"
                 There was a long pause where he thought this through. "Um, bad first I guess." He replied. " I can't find anything in the text on how to rescue you. I just don't think it's ever be done so it was never recorded. I'm so sorry!" She was beyond despair. She would never forgive herself for letting him down. " It's ok Rey, I'm sure something can be done. I'm learning a lot about how to be a better man and they say I don't belong here, so I'm not to worried. What's the good news?"
"Ben are you sitting down? You'd better hold on to something because I'm carrying your child . I'm pregnant!" She waited for him to be angry and yell at her but there was just silence as he digested this incredible news.
Finally he spoke. "Mine, how?" His astonishment evident. " Yes it's yours , you stinker! I've never known a man. Just you. But I'm not sure how it happened , but it did . Ben I'm so scared, I don't know what to do!" "It's ok, sweetie, wow, that is a big deal. Everything is going to be alright. I promise. Don't be scared. Rey I'm glad this happened, ....... I love you !" She blinked several times to let this revelation sink in. Did she hear him right ? Did he say he loved her? She was ready to confess her love to him.
This was better than she could have dreamed of. "I love you too!" Then suddenly with that declaration of love a vision sprang into her mind. In a flash of light there was Ahch-To island then in hyper speed came the sacred cave . She knew now how to find him .
