Detention

The following night, Y/N and Draco headed down to the Forbidden Forest. An owl had been sent to them that morning, providing them with the details of their detention.

"I don't know why they would send us down here. Surely this isn't allowed." The boy muttered as the pair made their way through the darkness.

"It's your fault we're even going Malfoy" Y/N remarked,

"If you had've just minded your own business instead of turning me in, we'd both be in the comfort of our own dorms right now."

The platinum blonde didn't say anything in reply. He knew she was right.

"Why were you walking around the castle last night anyway?" The gryffindor girl questioned, desperate to get answers as to why Malfoy thought he was above the law.

But before she could get anything out of him, they had reached the edge of the forest.

"Ah so you're the two students Professor McGonagall was talking about."

The pair turned around and were met with a very large man, with long hair and a beard.

"That must be Hagrid" Y/N thought to herself. Fred and George had told her he was tall, but she assumed they were exaggerating.

Hagrid explained that they'd have to go into the Forbidden Forest to collect ingredients for potions class.

"You want us to go in THERE?" Draco snapped as soon as they'd been given their task.

"It's supposed to be forbidden!"

"You two are going in there so I don't have to. Doing me a favour, you are!" Hagrid laughed.

So Y/N and Draco set off into the forest, their surroundings getting gloomier with each step. The tree branches were long and winding, and stuck out in all directions. Y/N grazed her arm against one, her robe slightly ripping on the shoulder. Noticing this, Draco paused and turned towards the girl, before letting out a shaky laugh. Y/N swore she saw his face show concern in the moment he paused, but she brushed off her thought, assuming the unnerving surroundings were making her see things.

Noises could be heard throughout the entire forest, but due to the lack of light, there was no telling what was causing them.

"What if there's something in here?" Y/N cautiously asked, not wanting Draco to have an excuse to make fun of her.

"Oh don't be stupid Weasley, there isn't"

But just as the words left the boys mouth, a distant growl came bellowing from behind them.

In sync, the pair sharply turned their heads towards the direction of the noise.

"Nothing in here, huh?" Y/N sniggered as she viewed Malfoy's worried expression; something that was rare for him.

"Can't be anything too dangerous or they wouldn't let us in here, right?....Right?" Draco whispered before turning to the girl beside him, as if he wanted her reassurance.

Y/N had no time to bask in the joy of seeing the vulnerable side of Malfoy, as a dark, hooded figure suddenly appeared in front of them.

Floating in mid air, the apparition-like creature's face was mostly hidden, except for what looked like a menacing mouth.

Y/N and Draco both screamed, and it was whose was higher pitched.

Deciding she didn't want to be anywhere near the figure for much longer, Y/N turned to run away, but tripped over a protruding tree root on the forest floor, twisting her ankle in the process.

The girl cried out in pain as she turned to Malfoy for help, but he was no longer beside her.

The platinum haired boy had already started running.

Y/N's vision darkened as she watched him make his escape, and the image of him leaving her was the last thing she saw before she completely blacked out.
