"Do you really have to go meet Malfoy?"
"Yes Ron, it's for a homework task-"
"Can't you just tell McGonagall you're sick and you couldn't complete it? Mum will kill me if she finds out you're hanging out with Malfoy again"
"For the last time, we're doing a homework task. We're not "hanging out". I'm sure Mum won't get angry at that-"
"Have you met our mother?!"
Y/N was currently stood in the Gryffindor common room. She was on her way to the library. Although that was before her brother decided to make an attempt to persuade her out of going.
"Look Ron, it's going to be fine. I'm doing the work and coming straight back."
"Alright but if he even lays a finger on you I'll-"
"What? What're you going to do?" Y/N questioned, trying not to laugh.
But Ron didn't answer as he watched his sister walk out the door. He hoped she'd still be alive the next time he saw her.
As Y/N arrived at the library, she noticed a head of platinum blonde hair sitting at a table; Draco was already there.
"Didn't take you as someone who would be on time, Malfoy" She teased as she raised her eyebrows at the boy.
"Well I had to reserve a table for us didn't I, Weasley" He quipped, resisting the urge to smirk.
"Can't have anyone bothering us while we're trying to do this very important homework task"
Y/N let out a small but hearty laugh as she sat down opposite the Slytherin boy.
The Malfoy and the Weasley spent the next hour working on their shared homework while simultaneously getting to know each other.
In between answering McGonagall's questions, the pair shared lighthearted conversations about their lives outside of Hogwarts. Draco told Y/N about the time he fell out of a tree and broke his arm while playing wizards when he was younger. In return, Y/N told him about the time her nose was broken by a bludger while she was playing Quidditch with her brothers at The Burrow.
The pair was shushed so many times by Madam Pince, that she eventually just gave up on scolding them, only approaching the pair to let them know that the library was closing.
"Well I've never enjoyed doing homework task before, thanks Y/N" Draco spoke as they were getting up to leave.
"Why are you thanking me?" The Gryffindor girl questioned.
"Just for talking with me I guess. I haven't laughed like that in a while" The blonde boy smiled as he began to walk away.
"Draco?" Y/N uttered before he got too far away.
Stopping dead in his tracks, he turned to face the girl once more.
"Yeah?"
Second guessing the words she was about to say, Y/N changed her mind.
"Oh, um, don't worry I forgot what I was going to say" She stuttered, hoping she sounded convincing.
"No you didn't, what is it, Y/N?" Draco inquired, a concerned look now etched on his face.
"Don't worry it's stupid, I-"
"Nothing you say would be stupid to me Weasley." The blonde interjected reassuringly.
"Well I know our families disapprove of each other, but can call a truce? I hate this stupid conflict" Y/N explained, trying to put her thoughts into sentences as best she could.
Draco was quiet for a few seconds before he replied, as if he was drawing up a plan in his head.
"Alright Y/N" He smiled
"Our parents can't find out about this, though" He added
The girl returned his smile and nodded her head.
"For a Weasley, you're really not bad you know" Draco smirked as they walked out of the library together.
"Oh thanks Malfoy, I'll keep that in mind" Y/N snorted as she rolled her eyes and smiled at the boy.
As the pair got to the point of the castle where they needed to depart, they turned to bid each other farewell.
"Well, goodnight Y/N" The platinum blonde concluded with a smile
"Goodnight, Draco" The girl spoke as she turned the boy's grin.
As they turned and began walking in opposite directions, a pang of sadness hit their chests. They walked back to their seperate common rooms, their minds filled with nothing but each other; hoping they'd be paired up for homework tasks more often.
