A note before the chapter starts: I am so so sorry this chapter took so long for me to get to. Due to things going on in my personal life, I've been struggling a bit with my mental health and between that and work, I've found it hard to sit down and write.
One thing I want to mention: some of you have commented on how "mean" the Weasley brothers are being. They're just extremely protective of Y/N and don't want her to be associated with Malfoy. You have to remember that they've grown up being told by their parents that the Malfoy's are horrible people (which they kinda are). They know their parents wouldn't approve of Y/N hanging out with Draco, and they are starting to sense that they're more than just friends, so they feel it's their duty as older brothers to put an end to it before she gets into any serious trouble. They absolutely will not be like this for the whole story, they do redeem themselves, so please don't give up on it yet. It's all a part of character development.
I work really really hard on these chapters (more so the last few because I've been dealing with my own personal struggles) so if you don't like something about them I'd rather you not continue to read it :)
To those of you who continue to show every single chapter support, thankyou so so so SO much! Reading your comments makes my whole week, and it's the positive comments that encourage me to keep me writing. I really appreciate all of you who take time out of your day to say something nice!
I hope you enjoy the chapter! <3

If you had've told first year Draco Malfoy that he'd end up going on dates to the Astronomy Tower with Y/N Weasley, he'd think you were hexed.
And if you told him that on their second date as he watched her admire the stars, that he'd begin to realise he was slowly falling in love with her, he'd say you belong in St Mungo's.
But that's exactly what was happening.
Draco had never had a great understanding of the word "love". Malfoy Manor wasn't exactly a wholesome household to grow up in, and affection was a distant concept to him.
Until he started hanging around Y/N.
The idea that one person can affect both how you feel inside and how you view the world, terrified him. It was so foreign to the blonde boy that he believed the only way he'd ever take such a strong liking to someone was if he'd been given a large dose of Amortentia.
Yet here he was, feeling the emotion for what felt like the first time in his life.
Although Draco felt like he could tell Y/N anything, he wasn't about to disclose this new information just yet. At least not until he was sure that what it really was. The 'L' word.
He definitely had strong feelings for the Weasley, he couldn't deny that, but he had a suspicion that he was only feeling this way because she was the first person to show him genuine kindness. Being a Malfoy, Draco wasn't exactly used to compassion, and he was still trying to decipher his emotions surrounding Y/N. He was happy to admire her in silence for now.
"Did you hear that?"
The blonde was pulled out of his thoughts as he heard the girl next to him whisper.
"Hear what?" He questioned as he took in her worried expression.
"It sounded like distant footsteps and muffled voices" Y/N squeaked as she searched the dark corners of the Astronomy Tower with her eyes.
Not liking seeing the Weasley girl so distressed, Draco reached out and took her hand in his own,
"Hey, don't worry Y/N, I'm sure it was nothing. Probably just Filch trying to catch his next victim"
As the pair shared a small laugh, the distant sound of feet hitting pavement returned, this time much louder.
Y/N turned to ask Draco if he'd heard that, but she needn't speak, as his wide-eyed expression confirmed that he had.
"Who in Merlin's name would be coming up here at this time of night?"
"I don't know, but we better get out of here Draco"
The pair immediately stood up.
Without letting go of Y/N's hand, Draco headed towards the back of the tower.
"Wait! Where are we going?" She spoke as he lead her towards what looked like a trap door.
"It's a way out of here without going through the main entrance"
"What? But how did you-"
"You really think I'd bring you up here without scoping out the place first? C'mon love, thought you knew me better than that" Draco smirked as he looked back at Y/N.
"Well it is only our second date Malfoy. Still don't quite know what to make of you" The girl joked, making him chuckle.
Just as Draco was about to reply with a witty remark, the sound of someone jiggling the doorknob echoed through the tower. Whoever was on the other side of the main door was surely going to enter any second.
"Quick, let's go!" The blonde whisper-yelled, opening the hidden exit door.
Just as the main door opened, the trap door which Y/N and Draco were now on the other side of, closed. Whoever was entering the Astronomy Tower had just missed the pair by a millisecond.
"Gosh, that was so close" Y/N sighed as they began to laugh.
"Is this what it's always going to be like hanging out with you, Malfoy? She sneered as she let out another chuckle.
"Not always, if I can help it. But I wouldn't completely rule it out" Draco replied as he returned her wide grin.
The pair decided to head straight to their respective common rooms instead of risking getting caught again.
With their hands still intertwined, they wandered through the halls of the castle, after Draco insisted on walking Y/N back to Gryffindor headquarters.
"I'm sorry our date was cut short, but I promise I'll find a way to make it up to you Y/N"
"It's really okay Draco, an unexpected intruder is hardly your fault" Y/N cooed as she leant in to hug the blonde, an action which he immediately returned.
"Goodnight, Draco" she smiled as they eventually pulled away from each other.
"Goodnight, Y/N" Draco whispered as he too, smiled fondly.
Meanwhile, back at the Astronomy Tower;
"There's no one here" McGonagall mumbled as she took in the sight of the empty tower from the main door.
The professor watched as Filch sniffed the air.
"Not now, but there was. I think those Weasley's were telling the truth, you know." The caretaker insisted as he appeared disgruntled.
"Well if you don't mind, I'm going back to bed. I'll discuss this with Professor Snape in the morning." McGonagall huffed as she rolled her eyes.
She regretted not giving Y/N and Draco seperate detentions in first year.
