"Lee where are you going ?" Mike yells over the loud music .

"I gotta take Quinn home , she's not doing too good "

"Quinn what happened ?" Mike asks confused and worried .

"Nothing , I just need to lie down for a while ." I know he'll eventually find out about the pool incident but for now  it's better he doesn't , for my sake .
I don't want him making puns  about it , they can be awfully mean . Funny but mean.

" Well hope you feel better soon ."

"Thanks . And Mike , happy birthday ."

"Thanks."
Lee and I walk through the areas where there aren't a lot of people , the amount of embarrassment coursing through my body is unbelievable.

Were just seated in Lee's car , not saying a word . It's an uncomfortable kind of silence , the awkward kind of silence .
I can't think of anything to tell him , I don't really want to talk .
I just embarrassed myself Infront of hundreds of my school mates , by tomorrow it's going to be the whole school ,news travels fast in Northwright high.
I can't believe I let Kate  and Heather talk me into wearing that thing .

So stupid! Stupid ! Stupid !

What's Lee gonna think of me now , he's probably thinking of how he'll escape me , avoid me .
Ugh! I'm such an idiot .

"Lee I'm sorry about -" I started

"Hey , it's not your fault okay ." Be interrupted .

"Look , we all mess up and embarrass ourselves  and it was an accident so don't worry about it ."

" I know but that doesn't mean I didn't ruin your party , your supposed to hangout with Mike rightnow ."

"Mike doesn't mind , I offered to take you home so I don't see the problem here ."

"I still feel embarrassed ." I palm my face as my cheeks burn up .

"Hey , we all have those moments , I remember when I was in middle school we went swimming on a class trip . I had just eaten like five hot dogs and I didn't want to wait thirty minutes before swimming .I wanted to impress this girl  in my class , Michelle by dividing from the highest diving board .
So I dived and she was impressed , when I got out of the pool she was walking towards me . I could feel the hotdogs coming up , but I went ahead and spoke to her anyway. She asked me a question and as I opened my mouth to reply It all came gushing out like water from a power washer   .I covered her in vomit in front of forty students .
I wasn't that popular back then and the hurl incident didn't help . Michelle  also never spoke to me again after that  ." He smiles at the memory.

Wait hold the freck  up , did he just say he wanted to impress a girl !
There was a point in time where he wasn't popular !
He cared about people's opinions , he actually felt embarrassed !
Lee the boldest man to walk the earth, has ever been embarrassed .

What dark times were those , when the world hadn't yet discovered the glorious beauty that is Lee Smith . Honestly I feel sorry for his middle school classmates .

"What ?" I ask in utter disbelief .

"Yeah , I walked and sat  alone for the  rest of the year ."

"That must've bee really lonely ."

"Yeah , the kids I thought were my friends took of . Even they made fun of me ."

"I'm so sorry ."

"Eeh, it doesn't mean anything to me anymore . In fact it's really funny to think about ."

" Have you ever met any of them  since you finished middle school ."
