Amity POV

"Humans don't actually do that do they?"

"They do! It's so weird"

"That's hilarious" I chuckle

"Amity, you know your really pretty right?"

"Oh" I blush "so are you"

She looks away, "this might be a weird question..but why did you come back?"

"Oh" I whisper, debating what I should say. "M-my"

"Amity it's okay" she smiles, holding my hand. "You can tell me anything"

"My mom..she was upset..at me for missing a meeting with one of her friends kid..t.that she wants me to m-marry."

"Amity" she wraps her arms around me. "I'm sorry"

"It's not your fault." I hug her back.

"It she mad about you know?"

"Us? No she doesn't know yet or that I'm gay. I'm kinda scared of how'll she reacted."

"Amity, if you're scared you don't have to come out to her"

"I know, I just feel bad" I whisper breaking the hug.

"Amity, I told you before it's your choice to who are were you come out. It's not a mandatory thing to come out to anyone, even if there your parents."

"When did you get so wise?" I ask

"If you must know" luz stands up looking proud of herself. "I thing I've made tons of character growth since coming to the boiling isles."

"Don't you still sleep with a stuffed bear?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.

"You promises you wouldn't talk about Sargent bear bear."

"I thought you said you've grown since coming to the boiling isles?"

"Not in that way" she whispers embarrassed.

"What about-"

"I swear to what ever saint or higher being you believe in if you bring up the spicy cheese mystery meat noddles" she interrupts me.

"So you admit it?" I smile.

I admit nothing" she crosses her arms looking away. We're we both burst out laughing. "But I'm serious, your love life isn't your mothers concern"

"Thanks luz" I smile playing with a strain of my hair.

"You know your hair is really pretty, why did you dye it?"

"Oh, I wanted to look more like my siblings. I'm the only one with brown hair after all."

"That makes sense, wanna see how many marshmallows I can stuff into my mouth?"

"Marshmallows?"

"It's a human think"

(Time skip)

"Amity!" Eda calls "someone at the door for you!"

"Okay" I yell back, as me and luz go downstairs.

"Dad?" I whisper seeing my father standing at the door. He normally never leaves his study.

"Amity, we were worried sick" he runs over giving me a hug, "you need to tell someone where you're going okay?"

"Okay" I nod, a bit confused why he's here, usually when me and my siblings get lost a servant comes to find us.

"Thank you for having her, but we better get going home" he smiles at me.

"Okay" eda nods, "remember kid my over still stands."

I nod, following my dad.

"Amity, don't ever do that again."

I nod, looking at the ground. I really don't want to go home.

My father stops, "I know Odalia puts a lot of pressure on you to get married and care on the family name, but you don't have too."

"But mom?"

"She's a very traditional woman" he sighs "but you being happy and healthy is more important then a family name. And I don't care if the person that makes you feel like the most important person in the world is a boy or girl"

I fell like I'm about to cry.

"But if they break your heart I will light them in fire" he adds.

"Thanks dad" I chuckles, realizing what I said. "I mean father"

"It's okay, you can call me dad when odalia not around" he smiles, messing up my hair.

"Do you know why we named you amity?" He asks as we continued to walk home.

I shook my head.

"Because it means friendship or a friendly relationship, and we wanted you to have that."

"To have friends?"

He nods, "exactly"
