Nandini Arora's POV
Only I knew how I survived that evening with Nayona Mehrotra. I couldn't eat anything for the dinner there because Nayona Mehrotra was a very health conscious lady and only arranged salad for us. She said that she didn't tell their cook to prepare many dishes because she was sure that I only ate healthy food.
I wonder where she got the idea from, every pun intended. Just because I was thin it did not show my eating habit. I was always on my foot so I didn't actually gain that much weight even after eating like a pig. I only ate the shrimp and chicken that was in the salad. I was not in mood for greens.
Later, I had to grab some burgers and fries from a local shop and filled my tummy. As soon as I went inside of the house, I didn't give any chance to say something to anyone.
"I don't know what's wrong with you and all those lies that you had fed that Nayona but I can't marry in that family. That woman is sick!"
"Come on, Nandini. Whatever we have said about you are the things that defines a respected, well defined woman. Everyone expects a woman like that. You need to change your self and you are forgetting that this marriage will do us good." It was my mother responding with her sweet words.
"Well guess what mom, I am not the ideal woman that everyone wants nor I will ever become like that. It will do us good, you say? She just wants to rule over her daughter in law. She needs a brainless bimbo but unfortunately I have one. If you do not refuse her about this then don't blame me for everything that will happen." I knew my parents would not break it off because of their obsession with wealth. It was confirmed when my mother said that both family had some meet and greet session.
I intentionally came back late that evening. I already ate my dinner before coming back to the house, facing my angry mom.
"I told you to come back early but you came now, two hours later after your work hour ends. I told you to be sincere towards this relation."
"And I also told you that I am not interested. I am not the boss to decide my work hours, mom."
"Wear this dress fast. I need to do your makeup." She acted like she didn't hear what I said.
"Where did you get it this time? Mom, I really hope you are not spending the money on any illogical purchases." I didn't wanted her to buy too expensive dresses and empty their small pockets.
"Of course, not. This is sent by your Mother in law so was the last dress." My eyes widen, "Mom!!"
But my mother dearest did not listen to me. As soon as we reached there, my parents started their too sweet talk with Nayona, making me cringe so bad. Manik wasn't there and that was a relief.
They continued talking and I was sitting there silently, smiling whenever Nayona Mehrotra would look at me. I excused myself to go to the washroom but Nayona called a lady helper to guide me.
It was a nice gesture but my mind was full of negativity with the Mehrotra. I felt like I entered in a jail where I could not even stay without anyone keeping an eye on me. She took me to a room and I entered in the washroom without bothering to look around.
I took deep breath while I was finally inside the washroom. It was a lavish one and I had no problem living there. I decided to stay there as long as possible so that I would not have to bear their talks. I was scrolling my social media time-line when I heard a knock on the door. I was in the washroom for a while so, I was sure it must have been that helper. With a sigh, I fixed my dress and hair before opening the door.
"Sorry, I -" I couldn't finish whatever I was trying to say because a very shirtless man was standing in front of me. My eyes widen seeing his abs and I immediately looked up to see who it was.
