Not gonna lie... I was kind of disturbed.
We sat in a diner. In front of us the Hulk and Banner... as in one. It was like the Hulk's big green body... with Banner's face on it.
He had Banner's hair, was wearing glasses. Even was wearing normal people's clothes. He got ones that fit is beyond me. He even talks like normal Banner.
Our food was placed in front of us, yes I was still left in confusion. The others were staring and seemed as confused as me.
''Why am I the only one eating here?'' The Hulk' or Banner said. I didn't even know what I was supposed to call him.
''Here, have some eggs.'' He passed the bowl to Scott and I.
''I'm so confused,'' Scott shook his head.
''Your not the only one pal,'' I mumbled.
''These are confusing times,'' Banner shrugged.
''That's not what I uh meant.'' Scott tried to explain himself. ''Nah, I get it. I know it's crazy. I know it's crazy. I'm wearing shirts now.'' Banner said.
''Yeah.'' I shook my head, my eyes still widened.
''How? Why?'' Scott asked the questions we were all wondering about.
''Five years ago we got our asses beat. Except it was worse for me because I lost twice. First Hulk, then Banner lost, then we all lost.'' He explained.
''No one blames you, Bruce,'' Natasha spoke up.
''I did.'' Banner sighed. ''For years I've been treating the Hulk like he's some disease, Something to get rid of. But then I started looking at him as the cure. I put the brains and brawn together. And look at me best of both worlds.''
I rubbed my hands over my eyes, still not believing what, I was seeing.
Before our conversation could go on three kids came up to our table. ''Excuse me, Mr. Hulk. Can we get a photo?'' The girl asked. ''100% little person.'' Bruce answered.
He handed the phone to me, which I passed to Scott. I was still trying to wrap my head around everything and I didn't feel like taking a picture right now.
Scott took a picture before going to hand the phone back. ''Do you want to grab one with me. I'm Ant-Man.'' Scott said. The kids all shared and awkward glances wanting to say no, but too nice to say no.
I rubbed my hand over my forehead, trying to laugh at the awkward situation.
''Your Hulk fans... They don't know Ant-Man,'' Scott tried to play it off.
Banner tried to get him to take the photo while Scott was trying to hand back the phone.
''It's fine, I don't want a picture with them,'' Scott t shrugged amongst Banner plea's for him to take the photo.
After a long argument, he gave the phone back. The kids and Banner exchanged goodbyeswhile Steve tried to grab his attention.
''Bruce, about what you were saying?'' Steve asked.
''Right, the whole time travel do-over. It's outside my area of expertise,'' he told us.
I sighed, hitting my head against the back of the booth.
''What, you pulled this off. I remember a time when that seemed impossible,'' said Natasha.
He looked between us thinking for a moment.
***
Night has fallen.
Bruce had agreed to help us, but it was too late to do it now.
Steve drove me back to my apartment. I was now in my empty apartment, I sat on my bed with my legs and arms crossed I was wearing a white t-shirt and a pair of pj's pants.
In front of me was a picture of Peter and Tony holding up the certificate of the Stark Internship.
And I have another photo on my phone of Peter and I in Coney Island making goofy faces as we hug and smile at each other.
I let out a sigh and kissed the photo of us together. ''I miss ya, dork,'' I said sadly smiling.
I put the picture of Peter and me in a box of souvenirs I got during my time as a superhero.
It was crazy to see how far we had come since then.
When I was a 7-year-old girl in Nashville who had lost my parents, I never thought my life would turn out like this. That I would meet the people I now called family.
As a little girl, I always dreamed of being a superhero.
I wish I could tell my parents I made it. They always told my dreams, and I guess you say I did.
''We're gonna find a way to find a way to fix this,'' I whispered to myself while looking at the pictures. I put one back on the stand and exit my phone gallery and turn off my phone before going to bed.
But this time I was going to bed with a smaller glimmer of hope that we could fix this mess Thanos caused. For the first time in years, I found that small glimmer of hope. It was small, but it was something.
