Chapter 14 - On your Left

''Okay, Thor, hit me.''

Our fight against Thanos had been slow far, and it sickened me to know that this was just the start.

When Tony made his command, Thor summoned lighting from the sky and shot it at the back of Tony's Iron-Man suit which opened up into laser guns. Tony blasted them toward Thanos who deflected them with his double-bladed sword.

Thor then tossed his hammer into the air and used his ax to hit it like a baseball. Thanos used Tony's body as a shield this time, sending Tony flying backward into the ditch and the hammer landing where Steve and I stood watching.

''Dammit,'' I whispered as Tony landed with a loud thud. ''Zoe, is he okay?''

''He is unconscious, but his vitals are indifferent.''

Steve looked at me.''Is he okay?''

''He fine, but down for this fight,'' I sighed.

Steve let out a low hum, almost a growl, and charged towards the Titan. He was flipped around by the sword and then knocked into a large boulder which crumbled on impact.

I gasped and just as I was about to see if he was alright, something hard hit my side. I stumbled back into a somersault and landed in a kneeling fighter's stance. When I regain my focus, I saw that Thanos had used his sword to stop me from getting to Steve.

I put my hands in front of me and quickly got up, jumping over the weapon when Thanos once again swung it at me. I landed in a crouch and used my ice quarterstaff to propel myself upward and kick Thanos' head to distract him while Thor charged in.

Thanos now launched his sword at the Titan like a boomerang, missing him when Thor slid himself under it. He brought his ax down to Thanos' chest but was cut off when metal and the giant deflected it.

I rushed in, kicking Thanos' leg from under him, making him lose his balance for a split second before letting another blow to my side and sending me at Steve. I used my gymnastic ability to move out of Steve's way and landed just beside him.

I slowly got up, my eyes widening when I saw Thanos drill Thor into a rock, holding his ax to his chest. Thor let out a yell as he tried to push back, but Thanos was too strong.

Before I could react to anything, his hammer moved, knocking Thanos off of him. I thought it was Thor moving the hammer, but was proven wrong when it flew back into's Steve's hands.

I beamed at him and he nodded to me.

He gave me a smirk before both of our focus were turned to Thor who stared at us proudly.

''I knew it,'' he grumbled, a smile formed on his lips. Thanos rolled his eyes and used his foot, push Thor farther into the rock he forced against.

Steve gave me a look. ''Let's kick his ass.'' 

I followed his lead Steve ran forward, using the leather on the handle to swing the hammer in a fast circle. I matched his pace and didn't falter when Thanos began charging at us. 

We clashed in the middle when Steve swinging the hammer up and Thanos forced the sword down. Thanos flew back on impact, landing on his back. He quickly recovered, raising his sword as he came forward once again, but we were ready.  

Steve throws the shield into the air then he throws the hammer, letting it hit the sword, sending it to hit Thanos in the head. He kneeled back this time, but didn't fall.

The three of us went on for a few minutes, and it seemed like we were going to win when Thanos hit the hammer away. It was too far to reach without turning our backs to him, and my powers won't work on it.

Thanos knew our weakness and began to beat down on Steve, cracking a piece of his sheild off. I tried to use my powers on him, but I was tired, my attempts were too weak to do any damage. The Titain sent me flying back when I tried  to use my ice powers to freze his leg out from under him. 

We were on the ground again, powless agaisnt the Titain who stood just feet away from us.

We were so close

My breathe was quick as I tried to recover from my exhaustion, but I had no motivation left. I look up into the cloudly sky hoplessly. Beside me, Steve let out a groan and rolled onto his stomach in attempt to get some leverage, but was also too weak.  

Then, Thanos spoke.

''In all my years of conquest... Violence... Slaughter... it was never personal.''

At this time, Steve had managed to heave himself onto his side to look at Thanos from the ground. His determination fuelled me enough to bring myself onto my elbows, so that I could at least see the talking giant.   

''But I'll tell you now...'' he continued, as dramtic as ever. ''What I'm about to do to your stubborn, annyoing little planet... I'm gonna enjoy it, very, very, much 

Not even seconds later I acknowledge the ship that was grounded a couple miles away from us. It let down a blue beam, revealing an army, and thousands more, and more after that.

''You got to be joking me,'' I groaned in annoyance, throwing my head back onto the wall behind me.

In spite of his blatant energy loss, Steve finally hauled himself to his feet with a grunt before offering a hand down for me. I took it on my own and used him as my strength to get onto his feet. 

My body ached slightly, my face has cuts and scratches, and there was dirt on every exposed part of me. But I knew we had to try. 

For all the people who couldn't.

 I winced as Steve tightened the straps on his shield around the large gash on his forearm in hopes of stopping the bleeding and closing the open wound.

It was now just him and I standing in front of Thanos and his army, I put on my mask on my face. I clenched my jaw and my hands tightly, ready for whatever was to come. Steve began walking forward, so I did too, but we both stopped when we heard a voice through our comms.  

''Hey Cap, Y/N, do you read me?'' A voice so familiar spoke.

I froze next to Steve. Everything falling silent, the only thing others could hear was the sound of my heavy breathing. 

''Cap, Y/N, it's Sam, can you hear me?''

I felt overwhelmed with emotion if he's back then-

''On your left.''
