"Get out there!" Tommy was shoved into the dreaded arena, a small throughly used knife in hand.
He stood tall, pushing his hair out of his face as he glanced as his opponent. His jaw dropped, eyes wide at the appearance of the other male in the arena.
He looked barely younger than Tommy himself, knees shaking and barely gripping a knife. Tommy felt pity for the kid, who had his eyes tightly closed and head down.
Something about him seemed familar, to Tommy's life before all of this. He couldn't find who until the opponent opened his eyes and glanced up at Tommy.
Both stood still, eyes locked together. The recognition flashed through the kid's eyes, hope filling them.
"Tommy! Oh my god, this is where you've been? Its been two years! Do... do you still remember me?" Tubbo exclaimed, glad they had a few minutes before each match to size the opponent up and plan an attack.
"T-tubbo?" Tommy questioned, his scarred face twisted into one of worry and confusion.
"Why are you here, Tubbo?" He snapped back to his stern self, glancing around at the spectators.
"I.. I don't know. I was walking home from Phil's house when I got kidnapped... I've been here ever since, I think three months now?"
Tommy felt his heart ache. Tubbo didn't deserve this life, being trapped in his terrible place and forced to kill the supposed enemy.
"Tubbo, listen to me. This is a tournament. Whoever wins gets freedom. You need to get out. Get to Phil or Wilbur, someone we trust and get them to shut this whole thing down. I'll.. I'll be here waiting for you." Tommy ordered, gripping his knife til his knuckles turned white.Tubbo nodded, tears starting to flow. He knew how this would end, how the battle was won. They would have to scuffle for a bit, to make it seem like they actually were fighting, then Tubbo would have to do it.
The buzzer rang in their ears, causing the match to begin. Tommy launched forward, pinning Tubbo to the ground, his knife narrowly missing his neck and driving into the ground beside it.
"Come on, it's the only way. I don't want you to die." Tommy choked out, trying not to cry.
Tubbo lifted his knees, pushing Tommy off and rolling to pin him down. He pinned in arms to his sides using his legs, raising the knife above his head, aiming for Tommy's chest.
His hands were held in the air, shaking as tears flowed from his eyes. Banging began to resound from the spectating booths, making the two tense up and close their eyes tightly.
Tommy noticed something as he opened his eyes. The banging wasnt coming from the spectators, but from the cops that had just burst in and were trying to stop the teens from fighting.
"T-tubbo.. we did it.. we survived.." Tommy looked up at the crying teen who had him pinned, who opened his eyes with confusion filling them.
"W-what?"
Tubbo looked around, noticing a group of policemen burst through the far door of the arena. He pulled off of Tommy, tossing the knife he held as far away as he could.
"You kids alright?" A cop asked, gesturing for the EMT's to get closer in case the two were injured.
"Y-yea.. We're okay. Not hurt.." Tommy assured, sitting up and pulling Tubbo close to his side.
"Shit.. they're so young.." A cop muttered nearby through gritted teeth.
Tommy ignored the comment, whispering to Tubbo to help calm him. The two were moved outside, seeing actual sunlight for the first time in a while. The duo was sat in the back of an ambulance, a warm blanket wrapped around them both.
Tommy did most of the talking, since Tubbo was still slightly in shock from almost killing his best friend. A anguished cry came from nearby, two cops were trying to calm down a group of civilians who were desperately trying to see the duo.
"Please, Tommy and Tubbo are like my little brothers, please I need to see them." A tall brunette brit pleaded, having to be pulled away into a hug by a pig man.
Tommy's eyes widened when he surveyed the group, recognizing their makeshift family. He nudged Tubbo awake.
"Come with me, okay? We're gonna go somewhere.." Tommy mumbled to him as he rubbed his eyes.
The duo stood up, walking over to the cops who were holding back the group.
"Excuse me.. can we see our family please?" Tommy asked, making one of the cops turn to face him.
"Are you sure you're up for it? I mean it's a lot of people and its only been a few hours since the rescue." The cop replied, glancing at the drowsy Tubbo who clung to Tommy's side.
"Yea, we're up for it." Tommy nodded, adjusting the blanket so it covered Tubbo more.
The cop then turned back to his partner, the two of them backing away and letting the teens step forward.
The group was talking amongst themselves, having gotten annoyed with the cops who wouldn't let them see the youngsters.
"Wilbur." Tommy called out, feeling tears start to fall.
The brit turned his head at the call, eyes widening and jaw going slightly slack.
"Tommy, Tubbo!" He cried out, hugging the teens tightly. The others stood back, not wanting to overwhelm Tommy and Tubbo with too many hugs at once.
Tubbo woke up a bit more, looking up and realizing what was happening.
"Wilbur!" Tubbo hugged the older brunette tightly.
Wilbur soon pulled away, tears staining his face. He looked like he hadn't slept properly in years, which might have been the case. The others came over, individually hugging the duo.
The people who didn't want to let go were Wilbur, Techno, Dream, Sapnap and Phil. Which wasn't really surprising, since those five were really close with the teens.
The two were cleared to go home by the end of the night. They had a few therapy sessions coming up, since they might have developed trauma from the events of the past.
Wilbur was insistant that everyone stay over at his house for the night, so they can catch up and just have everyone together again.
