Carefully picking his words Kian carried on, "It happened this morning. The Council think you were involved. I told them there was no way, but, what with the incident with those human boys... They kinda needed to find somebody to blame the attacks on. At the moment, all the Councillors agree that your a danger to yourself and others if you did lose control."
I was too stunned for words. I felt a chill go through my body as I realised what Kian meant. The Council were blaming me for this attack. They thought I was dangerous.
To put it in perspective, I was now totally and utterly fucked.
"We need to get you out of here." Kian said as he made his way back towards the window, "I know somewhere you can lie low until we can get this all figured out."
"What about my family?" I asked him, "I can't just up and leave without any explanation, they'll wonder where the hell I've gone. I can't do that to them."
Kian sighed heavily, "You don't have a choice, Alec. Look, I promise that no matter what happens to you, your family will be safe. As I'm your Guide all of you are under my protection. Right now though, I need to get you out of here before they come for you."
"Before who come for me?" I asked knowing that I was probably going to regret asking him that question.
"The Special Person's Existence Council and Tribunal Resource Exterminators, or SPECTRE as we call them for short. They're sort of our version of a hit squad," Kian explained as he glared at the empty street below, "They'll already be on their way. I just managed to get here ahead of the advanced task force, but trust me they won't be far behind."
He looked back at me, and just I knew that I had no choice but to go with him on this. It was my only way out.
Somebody was trying to set me up for murder.
"Can I at least leave a note?" I asked him, still thinking about how much my mum was gonna kill me if I left without any explanation at all.
"I tell you that a paranormal hit squad are coming after you to neutralise you and disperse the remains of your soul into atoms and you want to leave them a note?" Kian asked exasperated, "You might as well leave them an address while you're at it! Lead them right to us! Or should we just stay here and wait for them to come knocking on the door? Because I'm good for any of those options."
"Alright calm your pants!" I snapped back, "I wasn't bloody thinking, alright? I was too busy trying to focus on not panicking. Shit. I'm basically now a fugitive..."
"Are you finished ?" Kian asked, raising an eyebrow at me.
Damn it! He was sexy even when he was bringing me down with sarcasm...
"Not well at all." I replied stalking over to join him by the window, "Let's just get going before SPECSAVERS can catch us up."
Kian just nodded and led the way, climbing onto the windowsill and graciously leaping out of the window. I watched as he landed easily on the ground. I climbed up to follow him and had to stop, my legs hanging out slightly over the drop. My room was only two stories up, but it was still a hell of a long way to jump. I had seen videos on the internet of daredevil idiots trying similar stunts. They never ended well, and, I didn't do well with heights.
I looked down and saw Kian standing waiting for me on the ground. I felt like such an idiot. This wasn't something I was used to. In my head, all that I kept thinking was that if I landed this wrong I'd end up breaking a leg or something. That would look good on the front page of a newspaper -
Fugitive Werewolf Breaks Legs While Trying To Run Away From Hit Squad.
I almost had second thoughts about jumping out of the window. It just seemed to be a really stupid idea, but I was kinda desperate, and the thought of the hit squad spurred me into action.
