"He's okay!"
As I sat up the rest of the room came sharply into focus, along with the concerned looking faces of Victoria and Harry Jekyll. That was a lot better than looking at Chaz.
"Alec," Victoria said, "Are you okay? You look really pale."
"I saw them," I said somehow slightly breathless, despite the fact I hadn't even left the room, "Jonathan and Kian. I don't know how, but I know where they are."
"Take it easy, what are you talking about?" Jekyll asked.
I looked at Victoria, hoping to get her to understand. I knew what I had bloody seen. I didn't understand it, but, somehow I knew it was real.
"I saw them both in the woods. I'm sure it was real." I said, "That's where we need to go."
"I don't understand," Harry Jekyll ran a hand through his short, dark hair as he started to pace the room. "What you're suggesting just isn't possible. My father and my great-grandfather both tried to determine a way to astral project, and they both failed. It's just not scientifically possible."
"It's not even magically possible." Victoria added, "Or, at least, it hasn't been for several centuries."
I didn't know what to say or how to explain what I'd seen. I mean, it was as if had actually been there. I was sure that Kian had heard me. Jonathan, well, it's possible that he might have known I was there. I hoped not.
"So, you guys don't believe me?"
"We never said that," Victoria replied. "I believe you, Alec, it's just that what your saying is unbelievable."
That's pretty much saying the same fucking thing...
"Oh, you've both made that abundantly clear," I said. "Look, if you're not going to take me seriously then I'll go and find them on my bloody own."
I went to walk out of the room into the kitchen but stopped as Chaz put a rotting arm around me.
Fuck me. Up close he really stank like decay. I felt like I wanted to be sick.
"I think we all just need to have a cup of tea, maybe something to eat, eh? Then we can discuss this," he said with a smile, showing off what was left of his teeth. "Let's not make any rash, spur of the moment, decisions. People do like to do that in moments of crisis."
"This is not a rash decision!" I argued, throwing Chaz's arm off of me. "It's rational, and if you can't see that, like I said I'll go after them alone."
"Don't be an idiot, you won't last five minutes without us," Victoria bit back, "But, Chaz is right, we do need to figure out how we're going to do this."
There was nothing else for it. I hated the fact they were right. The worst bloody thing was I had to admit that fact to myself. I wasn't very good at realising when I was wrong.
"You're right," I sighed heavily in defeat, "Sorry, I was just—"
"Being a twat?" Victoria offered, "Yeah, we noticed."
"You can't save the world alone, Alec," Jekyll said, "As much as you might think you can. My great-grandfather once said the worst part of his nature was his impulsive desires. He created Hyde in an attempt to get rid of those desires. I guess that you know how that ended for him."
"Way to make me feel better about the situation," I muttered.
"I'm just trying to tell you that we all understand your need to see this through. It's human nature." Jekyll continued, "We all want to get Kian back safely and stop Jonathan from framing you."
