Then she appeared.

The floating spectre of Grace, The Ghost Of Moonstone Park, flew into the clearing like a storm before stopping dead in front of me.

"Grace? What are you doing here?" I asked her as I relaxed from my sudden rush of panic.

"I've been looking all over for you," she replied, "There's something that you need to see!"

"Alec, you know this ghost?" Victoria asked.

"Yeah, I do. Look, Grace, we're a little bit preoccupied right now." I said, trying to keep the annoyance from my voice.

Grace then frowned and crossed her arms angrily.

"I know," she huffed, "I'm trying to help you find your friend. The vampire with the blonde hair, and the other werewolf. I know where they are."

Kian.

How the fuck did she know where he was? Had she been following us? Actually, I probably didn't want to know.

"Where are they?" I asked.

"Follow me,"Grace said before she sped off through the trees.

I briefly looked at Victoria and Hyde before making my mind up and heading after Grace.

I ran and ran, only just keeping sight of Grace's see-through pigtails as she flew through the trees. Literally. There was a moment where I lost sight of her completely. Luckily, she came back to make sure we were still following her.

We carried on until Grace suddenly stopped on the edge of a clearing, and turned to face us.

"It's here," she said, pointing to the unassuming patch of grass. "I watched them go underground. There was some kind of trap door."

None of us moved for a moment. My eyes focused on a spot where the grass seemed to be almost bare. More so than the rest of the clearing. Then I noticed something metal catching the sunlight coming through the canopy.

It had to be the handle.

I found myself walking into the clearing, the vision replaying in my mind. I rushed over and bent down, my hand inches away from the metal before I hesitated.

What the hell are we going to find down there?

There were so many possible outcomes, I just hoped we would all make it out in one piece. Kian had to be okay. I prayed that he was, but I wouldn't put anything past Jonathan. He was a fucking lunatic.

I heard footsteps as Victoria, Hyde and Grace joined me.

"This could get nasty," I said, turning to face them. "If any of you want to leave, now's your opportunity."

"Somehow, I don't think I have a choice in the matter," Hyde replied in his rough tones, "Otherwise, I would gladly go."

"And, I haven't come this far with you to walk away now," Victoria added, glaring at Hyde.

I looked then at the floating figure of Grace "What about you?"

"I have my own reasons for wanting to help," she replied, "But, you guys are cool. I'm with you until the end, no matter what happens."

I nodded. It's what I needed to hear, I didn't want to face off against Jonathan on my own. No fucking way. Honestly, I was just glad to know there were people I could rely on.

Well, sort of people.

As I turned back to face the handle I took a breath, steeled my nerves and pulled open. The metal door was surprisingly not as heavy as it should have been. Weird.
