I. Alone (Angst-ish)

Life was already hard enough as it is, with being born as a part of the small percentage of males cursed with the ability to conceive and give birth. No one would accept him to work anywhere, since his kind has always been shunned as those who were hexed by some sort of genetic misfortune, and the belief of said misfortune had already plagued their society's mindset that there was a chance that it could be highly infectious, and so everyone would outcast those who carried that curse.

At one point, Mafu had someone in his life that disregarded the fact that he was a part of those who are cursed, and loved him whole-heartedly for who he is. Yet, as if the rumors about his misfortune were actually true, everything still came falling down, for him at least.

The child he carried, to which was supposed to be the cause of their joy and happiness from there on, was found out to be the father of someone else's, thus being the cause of he and his partner's separation.

"Iroha..! Did I make you wait for too long?" Once he caught sight of a girl with light grey hair, the albino forced his legs to run faster before he finally reached the gate of the kindergarten, where the short girl was idly waiting. Upon hearing his panicked voice, Iroha straightened her posture and jumped up, giggling as her thin arms immediately wrapped themselves around Mafu's waist, her head nestled in the warmth of the male's chest.

For her age, she was quite tall, which she probably got from her mother. A small smile made its way to the albino's lips, bringing his daughter in a warm embrace before they finally pulled away. There were other kids inside, playing around and having fun with their friends while some were being smothered with affection by their parents. Only a few were around Iroha's height, since most five-year-olds weren't usually as tall as nearly four feet.

"Nope! We just finished our last class, and I even made something for mama!" The five-year-old let out high-pitched giggles, hurriedly unzipping her bag as she searched around the contents inside. Mafu softly chuckled, a bit amused at how enthusiastic Iroha seemed today. He wasn't really as energetic as she was when he was a child.

She finally took out a piece of bond paper, which was a bit wrinkled since it had probably been clumsily shoved into her bag in a hurry. As the albino caught a glimpse of the colourful drawing in the child's artwork, he felt the bottom of his lips quivering a little.

"Iroha... this is really pretty." There it is again, his already slightly feminine voice breaking at the end when he took the flimsy paper in his hands. He was always a crybaby, up until now and even in front of Iroha in some occasions, and he never had a strong resolve to begin with.

Which was why he ended up having to raise Iroha on his own.

"Mama, don't cry..." Iroha panicked a little, unable to reach up to wipe her mother's tears since she was still too short. Once she spoke up, the albino instantly brought up his hands to his eyes and wiped away his tears.

"S-Sorry... anyway, I need to get your report card, right?" He sniffled, giggling in attempt to brush away the short emotional moment he had prior as Iroha also brightened up from his question. She nodded, her small, meaty hands holding onto Mafu's larger one as she pulled him inside of the kindergarten's front courtyard.

Children of varying ages and heights were everywhere, the lighthearted laughter and squeals of excitement filling the air, giving Mafu a fluffy feeling in his chest upon the sight of positivity among the children. As he looked around, his eyes finally laid upon a certain child, the earlier feeling of delight slowly dissipating when he saw how happy the child looked.
