Third Person POV

Bored sapphire eyes gazed back at another pair through the black screen of their television. Usually in most days of his life, he'd brush off the utterly boring feelings of deprivation whenever his work hours were finally over, but today was different. Today was special, and it seemed like a certain someone forgot about it.

Soraru absolutely didn't mind the fact that his boyfriend had kept himself heavily preoccupied with work like usual, it was no surprise that a somewhat workaholic like Mafu would tend to forget about birthdays and all that. And honestly speaking, it was already a suitable birthday gift that he gets to spend his previously boring everyday life with his angel. There wasn't anything else he could possibly ask for, was there?

He let out a yawn. Even just a few hours of work could even wear Soraru out this much, which was mainly why he had been trying to be in good shape these days instead of spending all of his free hours into his work. Sure, work was important, and it was heartwarming whenever his angel would scurry over and pester him with taking care of his health like the good boyfriend that he is, but Soraru had also disciplined himself these days to actually manage his work schedules along with some occasional rest days for exercises and light workouts.

A small meow from below interrupted his train of thoughts. Soraru snapped out of his trance and gazed down at the munchkin kitten that nestled herself comfortably on his thighs. Meanwhile, a ragamuffin cat merely sat on the other end of the couch with closed eyes, briefly peeking them open to look at the munchkin before shutting them again, looking as elegant and poised as ever. Somehow, these two furballs reminded Soraru of how he and his angel used to be when they were in the early years of their relationship. Iroha resembled a little bit of him, always denying any form of affection that the younger kitten would try to gain from her, while Poteto resembled his angel so terribly well, since both she and Mafu would just randomly waltz over from time to time and demand to be given some attention.

They didn't change much from how they used to be, they would still share their moments of affection and their bond was still strong as ever, according to their friends that is. Except that Soraru has finally learned to drop his somewhat tsundere act around his angel and just do the same thing as well, while there were some occasions where Mafu would suddenly whine at him and scold him for constantly creeping up behind him just to share a hug. Nonetheless, his angel was still oh-so adorable after all these years, maybe even cuter compared to before now that Mafu would tend to get hissy and whiny around him.

"Maybe I should try and convince him to rest for a while..." He pondered to himself, his hand gradually slowing down in brushing his fingers against Poteto's soft fur. The kitten meows again, catching Soraru's full attention before the latter broke out into a smile. Maybe cats do understand them after all, they're just dismissive of most things humans tell them most of the time.

Gently, he lifted the kitten off of his lap and plopped Poteto near the soft cushions for her to get comfy with, before the raven-haired male stood up and brushed off the remaining traces of white fur on his sweatpants. A single glance at the clock was enough to worry him about the amount of hours he could remember his angel had been spending on work, and eight to nine and half hours straight from 11PM until the morning was definitely, absurdly unhealthy for Mafu.

As he passed the kitchen, it was worrying enough to see the used packets of powdered coffee scattered on the countertop. Soraru was quite aware that his boyfriend had gotten used to the bitter taste of strong coffee over the past few years in their relationship, and maybe it was sort of an influence on his part, which was why Soraru was terribly worried about the unhealthy amount of caffeine intake thar Mafu has whenever he works.
