He trailed behind the other boy steadily, basking himself with the unchanging scenery around them in curiosity and wonder. It had been like that for a good thirty minutes ever since the child found him relaxing by one of the tall rocks, and they have been walking aimlessly towards the temple in the clouds in silence since then. For some reason, he was entrusted enough by the boy that the child was allowed to hold the instrument for him, which he still found quite odd even after holding the fragile thing for half an hour.
Where could they possibly be going, he wondered, but he had no way of asking his companion about their(his) objective. Along the way, he was guided to one more of those winged lights that gave him his brown cape, and the other boy silently guided him into reliving the memories of what seemed to be hollow spirits that were kneeled down on the sand for unknown reasons. Perhaps those rather iridescent, void images of people were only there to serve their purpose of bestowing their memories upon whoever relives the short moments of their short lives.
However, the child knew and understood only bits and fragments during the entire duration that the spirits' almost holographic bodies remained in the air, but he learned a thing or two from them in the end.
His newfound companion seemed to possess many of these gestures that the spirits have taught him, and the child couldn't help but feel a little captivated. From the boy's rather impeccable preference in garments, to the empty stare that remained stiff on his face, he was even envious of the many things he lacked that this unknown person seemed to own, but he was intrigued nonetheless of where else he could have obtained these.
Just now, the boy opened his mouth and muttered something to the air, perhaps it might have been something directed to the small one that followed in his footsteps. Even so, the latter failed to understand his words, and only continued to follow. After straying off from their path to get another winged light, the taller boy finally lead him to some sort of complicated rock formation that looked like an unfinished stairway to the temple in the clouds.
Though it ended a little too low for a creature as small as him to fly off of, he didn't know if his companion could either, since the temple was quite far away even if one were to make use of the rocks to fly higher. But the other boy planned on heading there anyway.
He wanted to ask, to have himself informed about this strange, somewhat non-inhabited realm he found himself just randomly... existing in, or where the boy even came from, about his intentions of instructing the child to follow him. Surely there was a reason as to why they met, and the lack of details about everything was starting to leave the child even more befuddled than he already is.
But he only followed and obeyed, since there was none else to do if he were to be on his own. It was better this way, it would be harder if this other boy hadn't come to aid him in his journey.
The feelings didn't seem to be as mutual as he thought, maybe he was only forcing the boy to guide him and that the latter had no other choice but to do so out of pity. It seemed like it however, there was no doubt that the annoyed frown on the boy's lips was all because he silently asked for the boy to guide him around.
"..............................."
I don't know.
Instead, he looked down. A part of him knew what the boy could possibly be telling him, but he was unsure.
The next stop was this tall rocky structure. He was unable to come up with anything else to describe it, but at the very edge was another one of those glowing children. There was an urge to collect as many as he wanted, he didn't know what they were for, but something told him not too long ago that they could help him fly higher and make his wings stronger.
