Edwin stared into nothingness, thinking of his life and his kingdom.

- Living in Elatre is normal - He said.

Alexa stared at him, she had given him too much detail. She knew she was more exposed than he was, though everything that had been said would not affect her at all.

- Well, it must not be like Zulcan, so I do not know what's normal for you.

Edwin rolled his eyes, he didn't want to tell what it was like to live there, because that would make him remember his dark past.

- I also ran with the children of the kingdom while I was younger and without responsibility. - He began, his lack of detail irritating Alexa. - But despite everything, everyone there was antisocial, even the children.

- Do you have any kind of transformation?"

Alexa's curiosity about him was funny, he thought everyone knew how vampires lived.

- I only survive if I take 200ml of blood a day at a minimum - he went on. - Well, that's since I've known myself, so I should not have a certain time of transformation like you.

Alexa wanted to know a lot more about him, but Edwin was not as open as she proved herself to be.

- What would you most like to do?

- Follow my father in the hunt - he explained. - But that tradition was lost when he died.

- Did you hunt anything to drink the blood? Alexa said as she lay on the ground and stared at the stars in the sky.

- Yes! - Edwin answered.

- How do you survive now?

- We take care of a herd for this ... -his thoughts went away. - Taking human blood is getting harder and harder, but it's the best quality, a bit of human blood, and we can stay up to a week without food or without drinking more blood, so it is very valuable to us.

Alexa shuddered, she had the hunter's instinct too, though she had never put it into practice, because many other wolves could do this to fuel the whole kingdom, thereby putting fewer people at risk.

But by imagining Edwin and the vampires hunting humans and taking their blood brutally, it made her uncomfortable.

- Well, as far as I know, there are still vampires hunting for humans! - Alexa replied.

- There are only a few vampires who can still control themselves, we can smell a human for miles, that's how it shivers our bodies, it's a pleasure to smell then imagine hunting.

- It must be bad to have to control it, but if it is in the rules defined in the treaty, I think it's fair to not get into my land. - Alexa always gave a way to be fair and defend his kingdom.

- I did not know about the rebellion until you told me ... - Edwin let himself be carried away by his thoughts. - And it seems that the only person I trust, the mortal Mother, are consenting to this.

- Mortal Mother? - Alexa asked curiously as she sat down.

- Morgaine Vladi II, she is the mortal mother, assumed this position when Dala left the kingdom in search of completing the mission of Lucius.

- Who created you? Is she your mother?

- I think about it, my mother died at my birth. Vampires tend to have affection ties with most vampires, so it's easy to set aside a loss.

Edwin was not shaken even with the loss, when his father warned him that he would sacrifice himself, Edwin supported him because he knew that even though it was his father he knew he was thinking of a greater good, it would help everyone.

- That is inhuman! - Alexa said discredited. - Not having your moments of mourning, that's weird.

Edwin broke into a cornered smile and looked away from the stars to face her.

- Inhuman? - He laughed. - Well, deep down, we are not a human species. We hunt them down.

Alexa cringed, she had chosen poorly the words but did not know what else would make sense to express what she felt.

- Yeah, I'm sorry. I didn't know how to express it...

- I know it's strange from the outside. - He interrupted.

- But if you create affectionate ties ... - Edwin raised his hand toward Alexa and stopped her.

Then he made a sign of silence. Alexa's heartbeat was increasing because of the tension.

Edwin took a deep breath, the windblown currents smelled so much, they had positioned themselves so that he would always know what was around, but not leave their tracks in the air.

- I feel someone coming here ... - He paused, took a deep breath to understand who it was. - I've never felt this! - He finished in a frightened tone. - It seems that there are not only humans, vampires, and werewolves. This mystical race I do not know.

- What will we do? We do not know who our enemy might be, how will we fight? - She whispered.

- Quiet, let me think! - Edwin whispered back. - Sweat dripping on its body is like a human. - He began to speak with his eyes closed, trying to get even more at the sensation. - But the breath is stronger than that of a werewolf.

Alexa was impressed by Edwin's gift, and at the same time impressed that there was a creature that was so different.

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Her earing never failed, it was as good as that of a vampire.

A branch broke at some distance from them, the horse became frightened and stood up making noise.

- Calm him! - He ordered.

Alexa tried every way to calm the creature, but it was even sweating with fear, probably it knew the danger was around.

- Calm him, otherwise, we'll have to kill him! - Edwin growled again.

Hurried steps began to follow them.

The horse did not stop, Edwin pulled Alexa's sword, and aimed toward the horse. Alexa panicked and begged him in her gaze. Edwin shook his head and then cut the rope that tied the horse into the tree, and then he gave a slap to it's back, causing it to run through the forest fading.

Alexa open her mouth to call for the horse but

Edwin covered her mouth, and held her by the waist, on an impulse, he managed to climb the tree to the top.

Minutes of silence, until a green creature appeared in their field of vision.

It wore a black cloak and walked strangely.

It was about 2 of them. Edwin was astonished, he did not know what kind of thing it was.

The creature stopped and felt the air, soon after began to run, the two creatures communicated in an unknown language.

-They're ... - Alexa still could not believe what she'd just seen. - Night Soldiers.
