He had searched everywhere for the woman sorceress but he hadn't found her, for that matter he hadn't seen anyone since he locked himself in the library this morning until he was called by one of the scouts that delivered troubling news to him, so he urgently needed to find Arya and the rest of the pack, if Alexa was here he could've finder her simply by the smell and feel of the Alpha, without her he was left wandering the corridors of the castle trying to find everyone.
His quick pace startled the servants who cleared the path for him he didn't even notice that, but that was a usual thing for him to be oblivious of what's surrounded him. He reached the armoire and found Truman, the last person he wanted to see that afternoon since he always was able to get his attention to make him forget everything else, but he was determined today not letting it happened, he needed to deliver the message and to discuss with everyone what was to be done in the circumstances that they've found themselves:
- Do you know where is Arya? - He asked, trying to avoid looking into the young man's eyes, those deep blue eyes that reminded him of the ocean.
- Good Afternoon to you too! - He answered taking a sword to examine.
- Good Afternoon Truman, but I need an answer to my question! - He said lingering on the body of the other man, tall muscular, his skin kissed by the sun and his hands he knew how calloused they were of the hard work he did, he could be a killing machine if someone let him.
- Yes Charles, I saw Arya just going to the kitchens. - Truman said returning the sword to its rightful place and turning to face Charles. - Why the urgency?
Charles gasped no one knew him better than him who could see through him like a thin paper:
- My scouts have returned, I have troubling news, I'd prefer to talk to everyone at once, O was going to ask Arya to call the rest.
- I know where Andrew and Elia are and I think Flora was with Arya.
- Could you find Andrew and Elia and tell them to meet us in the pack office?
- I can Charles. Leave it to me! - Truman was smiling from ear to ear, it was that simple nature that pulled Charles towards the young man, he simply loved to be helpful and saw life just so bright.
- See you then... - Dismissed Charles before turning is back and begins walking to the kitchen.
Truman scent still lingered in the air, parchment and fresh ink, the best smell he had ever smelled. He shook his head to get rid of the thoughts that lingered on his mind about the young man.
Descending the stairs that gave access to the kitchen he began hearing female voices, arguing talking, and giggling, he knew they were talking about some rumors that circled the village.
The kitchen was the coziest place of the palace with a huge window that let in the sunlight on it's opposing corner it had a fireplace, always lit to cook a variety of delicious food for all the people that worked and lived in the palace it also served to maintain a warm temperature inside the room, in the center stood a rectangular shaped table of wood, marked by the use of knives on its top and carvings made by the pack when they were young was showing in its feet and corners. East to the door was the shelves stacked up with pots, pans, and frying pans, in a little corner stood the sink with dishes piled up from lunch, the maid that used to clean the dishes only arrived there in an hour or two.
Charles stepped through the door and saw the back of the Cook who was baking dough for bread, Flora, and Arya sit up in front of the cook, they were the first ones to notice his presence:
- Hi Charles! - They both greeted him startling the cook that jumped and turned to see him.
- Hello Master Charles! - Greeted the Cook, bowing her head, but never stopping to clean her hands. - Do you need anything from me, Master Charles?
- No, Miss Amelia, be at ease, I just need to borrow my pack mates and Miss Arya to a meeting.
Arya raised her head to meet Charles's eyes and she noticed the sparkle that told her not to speak anything. Flora's expression was the same as Arya, puzzled by his words, but something made the two women stand up and follow him waving the cook farewell. They followed Charles through the corridors of the castle until they reached the pack's office.
When they arrived they found Andrew sitting straight in his usual place with Elia right next to him, and Truman was in front of them. Andrew looked like he could kill someone his rage was firmly expressed in his dark brown eyes and his lips were forming a thin line, it was no secret that he had a romance going on with Elia, maybe Alexa was the one who didn't know and the one they have been hiding the case. But Charles didn't mind with that, he had a darker secret that he didn't admit even to himself. The three arrivals proceeded to sit in their places leaving the head of the table empty for it was Alexa's seat.
- What did you have to tell us so urgently that needed us to stop whatever we were doing? - Asked Andrew rigid, sighing when he felt Elias hand on his arm.
- I received word from our scouts, there's an army of beasts marching our way, they already reached the Emerald River, my scouts counted at least one hundred of these soldiers! - Explained Charles, sighing when he finished, now it was on the hands of everyone and not just on his.
- Beasts? - Asked Elia, concerned. - What kind of beast?
- Like us! - Charles answered.
- That's impossible! - Flora screamed to be heard because everyone was talking with everyone.
- Don't ask me how I just know that it is! - Finished Charles. - We need to contact Alexa and try to plan for the war!
- She didn't try to contact us anymore since the last time. But I'll try tonight with the new moon, it might give me more juice to contact her. - Explained Arya. - But I'll need you all to tap in the pack connection.
- We will be there! - Assured Truman looking into Andrews's eyes, he only nodded to confirm that he would be there to attend the connection.
- All right! See tonight then, I need to prepare myself for this spell.
- What did you see in our future? - Asked Flora, before the sorceress could leave her seat.
- Two ways, one its long-lasting peace and the other is the destruction of all of us. Don't recognize what choices need to be made so we go through one instead of the other. I only know it's in the hands of Queen Alexa and Prince Edwin. - She said, turning her back and leaving the room.
