Pain... Fire coursing through her veins... Cramps in her legs and her arms... Her stomach acid and just like she was throwing up, a million knives seemed to be thrown at her chest... This was how Alexa open her eyes whit a gasp so she could regain her strength and try to maintain some normalcy over herself. When she could overcome the pain she looked at her surroundings and spotted Edwin sitting right next to her he looked worried and immersed in thought.
She gathered the strength to touch him. As soon as her skin touched his she felt a sparkle in her fingers that left her with worried eyes she had to hear of such feelings but only in ancient times when two wolves found their true mate. Edwin jumped at the touch and looked up to her:
- Finally, you awaken! How are you feeling?
- I'm fine! - She responded even if that wasn't true.
- Please Alexa I don't need you to be strong for me, I need to know how are you feeling! - Edwin said in a low voice filled with concern.
- I'm fine, Edwin, you don't need to worry about me! - Alexa told him once again, she didn't want him to worry about her after all they still had to go on a path filled with danger to the caves, if he insisted on her coming along she didn't need to add to his problems, she didn't like to be a burden like her father told she was a thousand times when she was only a child.
- Okay, I'll pretend that is the truth but you'll need to tell me at the moment if you are feeling worse or anything different! - He said, surprising her for his feelings.
- I don't want to be a burden and if that happens I'll travel back in any way I can. I rather die than be a burden to you or anyone!
- You will not die! Not on my watch and not while I'm around! - He said. - Can you stand? We have to get going, the caves aren't far away but it's still a two days travel. I think it's better for us to not stop until we reach them.
- Are you afraid that my time might be running out? - Alexa asked with a whisper.
- I think it's better not to test time itself, we don't know anything about the poison or it's magic and how it might act on you since I forced the turn on you. So just for a precaution, we should keep moving until we get there. I already changed the dressings on your wound, so we could move forward as soon as you woke up.
- Thank you for that! I was going to do it. But I felt so cold and so tired that it felt heavy to move. And I think I can walk and Jax can carry me. I can strap my legs to the saddle so if I need to I can sleep on it.
- Yes it's better that way. I can watch over you while you sleep on the horse.
Alexa was astonished by the offer, never had she heard of a vampire looking out for a werewolf but then she remembered that she and he weren't exactly regular werewolves and vampires. She was the last of her lineage and the only one that could control her wolf in both forms he was a thousand years old born vampire and both of them were crazy enough to undergo a joint journey even when hatred against each other was the only thing they had ever learned.
Alexa nodded her head and stood up, she felt dizzy from the movement but said nothing, she whistled and Jax came to her. Edwin helped her mount the horse and strapped her legs and handed her her blanket. And so they begin heading to the caves.
