I'm here for you, always

Part 5

Cristina was first to wake, it was about 9, Teddy and Cristina both had today off. She decided that Teddy could sleep more because the amount of sleep she had last night wouldn't even come close to the amount she had lost in the past couple weeks. She was playing with her hair and admiring all of Teddy's facial features, her beautiful bone structure. Mapping it out and memorizing it, Teddy looked so cute while sleeping.

Cristina noticed that Teddy wasn't sucking her thumb anymore, she was dreading having to talk to her about it. Cristina was humming a song, she didn't remember what song it was, just the beat. She saw Teddy's eyes start to slowly flutter open, it had stopped raining and the sun was shining into the room. Teddy was looking a lot better than she had been last night, that sleep was very well needed.

"Good morning" Cristina said with a smile

"good morning" Teddy said returning the smile

Cristina didn't know why she was smiling so much, Teddy just looked so peaceful until she didn't. Teddy had noticed that the sun was shining bright, brighter than it would have been when she would have woken for work.

"What time is it?" Teddy asked with worry

"It's like quarter after 9, why" 

Teddy jumped up gasping

"We have work, oh my god we are going to be so late" Teddy was trying her best to put her shoes on as fast as she can, She looked in the mirror and tried to fix all her bed head, ultimately failing.

"Teddy, Teddy. Calm down, it's ok, today is our day off remember?" Cristina said calmly hoping it would calm Teddy down

"Oh... Why didn't you tell me earlier??!" Teddy asked, sounding annoyed 

"We literally had only said good morning to each other and then you jumped up out of bed, racing to get ready" 

Cristina was sounding a bit defensive, not knowing why Teddy was getting angry with her.

"You're right, I'm sorry" Teddy was sounding upset because she didn't mean to snap at Cristina like that, she was starting to feel really bad considering what Cristina had done for her last night.

"It's ok, I forgive you. Now just come back" Cristina said with a smile, patting the spot Teddy had been lying in just seconds ago, she didn't look upset with Teddy anymore.

Teddy sat on the edge of the bed taking her shoes off and getting under the covers. She lied down right in her usual spot, right in Cristina's neck. She immediately smelt the vanilla, this time it wasn't Teddy sighing contently it was Cristina, she didn't understand what had made her so happy all of a sudden. She was just enjoying cuddling, and Cristina was rubbing her back, what could have been better? It was all ruined when Cristina decided that now would be the best time to bring up the thing that she had been dreading.

"Umm..so Teddy last night, I saw you do something"

"what was i doing?" Teddy's words coming out muffled because her mouth was pressed in Cristina's neck

"I-well-um-I don't know how to say this, you were kinda sucking your thumb?" Cristina had said it more like a question than a statement

Teddy was looking worried, she forgot that she had been doing that for forever, she would do it to find comfort when she was alone, she hadn't done it for years, when she was with Henry she never did it because he was always with her, and now Cristina had seen her do it?? She felt so embarrassed, she could have broken down into tears right then and there. Her eyes were watering, her vision was becoming blurred, she could feel heat spreading through her cheeks.

"Hey, Hey. No, it's ok, there is no need for that. I really don't care about it, I was just wondering about why you do it." Cristina spoke so softly, towards Teddy, as if she was talking to a young child.

Cristina had moved Teddy in front of her so she could see her, the tears were now falling freely down her face. She was wiping the tears away, she felt awful, she never ever wanted to make her cry. Cristina didn't know what to do, then she remembered what had calmed her down before, so she got out of bed and picked Teddy up like she had last night. Slowly bouncing her around and whispering in her ear, after a couple minutes of doing this Teddy had stopped crying and was only sniffling, this brought so much joy to Cristina to know that, that would help calm Teddy. 

Teddy had no clue as to why she kept crying, she just thought that she was tired, which led to her often getting very emotional. Teddy really enjoyed getting taken care of by Cristina like that, she never realized how much she liked it, until Cristina put her down again.

"I'm so sorry hunny, I never meant to make you cry again. I won't bring it up, like I said earlier it doesn't bother me. You actually look really cute doing it."  Frick, Cristina started panicking she didn't mean to say that last bit 

Teddy looked down at her lap, you could see the blush creeping up onto her cheeks. She wasn't only blushing because Cristina said that she looked cute while sucking her thumb, but because she had called her a pet name again. Teddy really liked it, she wanted to tell Cristina to keep doing it but she was already embarrassed as is.

"it's ok, I know you never purposely make me cry or upset me. I'm just tired and everything is upsetting me right now. I don't know why, but I've just been really sensitive lately." Teddy was looking in her lap twiddling her fingers, she just didn't want to look at Cristina, she was feeling too embarrassed and while she was explaining her eyes started to get watery.

"Hey, it's ok, there is nothing to be worried about. Sweetie look at me." 

Cristina took her fingers under Teddy's chin and lifter her head so she would look at her. When Cristina lifted her head she was blushing about being called sweetie. Teddy didn't understand what was with all the pet names and she definitely didn't want her to stop.

"There is nothing wrong with feeling emotional, we all have our days, but sometimes we just need that one person to help us feel better."

 Teddy was starting to tear up right there, Cristina had been so kind to her over the past 12 hours, and she felt like she didn't deserve it. Cristina had noticed that Teddy was starting to get upset again but before she could say anything Teddy had jumped into her lap and given Cristina a great big hug.

"Thank you Cristina, for everything that you have done to help me. Even though I don't deserve it."

Teddy was crying, but tears of joy. Even Cristina was starting to tear up.

"Of course I would help you, luv the world has treated you awfully, and for that you deserve the world." Cristina said allowing a couple tears go. That just put Teddy over the edge, and she was crying like crazy. Cristina picked Teddy up and started carrying her around the room, to help her settle down. What Cristina had told Teddy that she deserves the world, she decided that she could not lose Cristina, and Teddy loved how Cristina took care of her, as if she were a baby, her baby.
