It was the last day of classes , waking up you put on your robes and headed down to the lake . The water glistened as it was now fully summer , the thought of going home made you hopeful. Things felt weird ever since you told Draco , you hadn't really talked about it since and you didn't explain it to him. Sitting down you listened peacefully to the birds sing , out of the corner of your eye you noticed a snake coming up to you. " hey there buddy." You spoke to it as it slithered infront of you , it raised up as if bowing .
" thought I'd find you here." You heard in the distance, you and the snake seemingly turned to the voice . Draco walked towards you but jumped when seeing the snake. " y/n are you aware of the snake infront of you?" He asked as he pointed at it , you laughed and nodded .
" pardon my friend , please be kind to him." You spoke to the snake , it nodded causing you to smile. Turning around and looking at Draco you waved for him to come sit by you. " I always forget you can uh talk to snakes ." Draco confessed with a laugh as he sat next to you and handed you a sandwich.
" thank you , this guy is really nice . Might have to keep him for a pet." You spoke , the two of you watch the snake hunt for a mouse in the distance as you ate your sandwiches.
" so uh can we talk about what you told me?" Draco asked softly after a while , looking at him you sighed knowing he deserved an explanation.
" I didn't mean to Draco , you have to understand that . It was me yes but it wasn't , something happened that I still can't explain. " you sighed , looking at Draco he looked at you as if wanting you to elaborate more
" she was a muggle born witch you see and we use to do things like this . We'd sit at a lake that had this ancient serpent living in it . She hated it , and she hated when I talked to the serpent . One day I was sitting under a tree after we had went to the lake and gotten into an argument . I still don't know what it was but something overcame me as I sat under it , told me that there was no room for mudbloods in the magic world . So I found her in the bathroom and I killed her ."
"I don't remember it . Sometimes when I close my eyes I see flashes of the blood and what happened but all I remember after sitting under that tree is being on a flight home ." You explained solemnly , Draco looked at you with pity.
" some say the tree is grown from Salazar Slytherin's wand . Ever since I've heard that a lot of things make sense and it makes me question why I was ever sent there in the first place." You confessed causing Draco to let out a wow .
" I'm sorry that happened , but you're here now . I promise none of us are going to let anything like that happen again . You're safe with us ." Draco reassured causing you to smile. The rest of your time at the lake you skipped rocks before heading off to class.

Dinner rolled around and mail was being dropped off , you and your group of friends stood in the courtyard talking about how excited you guys were for break.
" I'm going to Egypt with my mum this year , how about you guys?" Pansy asked with a smile you shrugged as Crabbe and Goyle talked about their joint family trip to Scandinavia. Your eyes met Draco's before he whispered in your ear. " I hear our parents are going to meet up this summer."
" lovely ." You joked with a laugh A group of Gryffindor students running out with Harry's new broom interrupted your conversation. You guys watched as Harry hopped on his new broom and flew into the sky .
"His brooms cooler than yours malfoy ." Blaise teased causing Draco to Groan . " you know what-" Draco began before getting cut off by you and Pansy .
" Just wait until my father hears about this ." Pansy and Yourself spoke at the same time causing your group to laugh and Draco to cross his arms .
You didn't know what the summer would hold , but you did know that you were gonna miss your friends.
