"She hasn't come home."

It's been two weeks now. I have a long pending conversation I need to have with him. But only after his wife has come back home. I'm not a horrible person.

The girl was supposed to have been back a week ago already, now I'm running out of time because Luke is getting fed up. He's getting fed up that our dinner dates and lunches are being cut short every time because of Tristan's constant meltdowns.

He'd been really upset with me when I cancelled our dinner plans last week after I'd gotten a call from Tristan. I'd texted him that evening saying,

'Hey, something urgent just came up. I'm sorry but I have to cancel.' That was about ten minutes after I'd texted,

'So excited about tonight! I've decided to cook for you so please don't eat anything. My address is:

xxxx xxxx

xxx'

I'm a coward because I'd sent him a text message to cancel instead of calling him. I'd been ashamed because what was I going to say this time? I said I was going to make it up to him and now I was cancelling again.

He'd called multiple times I'm guessing to find out why I was cancelling and I didn't answer his calls.

The following day I'd gone to his company because he'd stopped answering my calls too. He had me waiting for about two hours before he came out of his office. I knew he'd done it on purpose because his secretary was acting odd. I deserved it though.

"I have a friend who's going through a rough time right now," I'd said to him once he finally let me in. He was annoyed with me and he made no effort to hide it. He didn't even offer me a seat so I stood and continued,

"He's been a mess and he needed me. Both the times that I didn't answer your calls. I'm sorry I didn't say anything. I just wanted to come here and explain myself because you deserve better. I understand if you don't want to see me again." I'd finished. He just kept quiet and I wasn't left with much choice but to say,

"Bye Luke." as I made my way out of his office. Maybe this is for the best anyways.

But I felt my heart race when,

"Mia wait... " he'd called.

"All you needed to do was just tell me. I don't like games and when you don't answer my calls you don't leave me with much of a choice but to assume things." He'd continued to say getting closer to me.

"Of course I'm not gonna be mad that your friend needs you. Please just answer my calls, ok?" He'd said now putting a few of my braids behind my ear. I'd smiled and nodded, making him smile too.

And then his lips were on mine.

He'd tasted exactly how I thought he'd taste. Like marshmallows and vanilla ice cream.

"Damn." He'd then said to me after our short kiss.
I knew what he meant, I felt it too. The spark.

He'd then held onto my hand to walk me to my car because I needed to get to work. He'd kissed me again then opened my car door for me when we'd gotten to it.

We didn't talk about what any of that meant for us, but it was like we both knew because that evening after work, I'd gone to his place. And the evenings that followed after.

Needless to say things were great with us.

Except well, the fact that Tristan kept calling. Even though I could see he didn't want to come off as controlling, he was annoyed. There's been a few times he'd called while we were in bed making love. Luke would then get off bed to go out to the balcony for a smoke.

We're getting serious and well - he wants me to talk to Tristan. I promised him I would as soon as Meghan comes back so that the blow won't be that bad. He's already going through it and the last thing I want is to add more bad news.

Meghan is not answering his calls anymore because he'd been calling her non stop and basically asking her how she could just leave him like that. I know she's not answering because he's being persistent and she doesn't want to deal with that while she's away. Something probably came up and she knew he wouldn't be happy about her not coming back when she said she would.

Whatever reason, I'm sure she would explain it when she came back. But in the meantime, I'm mad because now I'm having to deal with calming down her broken husband.

I'm mad because while she's wherever she is, doing whatever she's doing. I'm over here having to take care of her husband and make sure he's not starving himself because he's miserable.

Yesterday I was supposed to have had the conversation with Tristan but I didn't end up doing that because he'd told me that Meghan hasn't yet come home.

"Did you tell him?" is the first thing Luke asks when I enter his office. I put the big bag that's got our lunch inside on the table by the mini-lounge in his office. I then make my way over to him to hug and kiss him on his lips.

"Hey baby." I say to him.

"Well? Did you?" He's getting irritated.

He just doesn't understand. Tristan is not perfect but he's till my friend. I'm not going to just drop him when he needs me the most.

"Meghan is not back yet. I told you I wanna wait for her to come back home before I tell him." I say to him softly, hoping he doesn't get upset.

We've had this conversation everyday since I told him everything. He says Tristan is an adult and I need to stop babysitting him.

He sighs and I bring my body closer to his so I can wrap my arms around his neck while he sat on the edge of his desk.

"I can't abandon him." I continue to say as his eyes now start softening up a bit.

Luke is not a bad persons. It's just that for the week that we've now been together, there hasn't been a day Tristan hasn't called. There hasn't been a day he didn't want me to come to him so he's not lonely. The first few days Luke was ok with it. He understood that I still needed to preform my friendly duties, but then it never stopped. It got worse. It got annoying.

"Ok baby." he says to me then brings my head closer to give me a kiss on the forehead lovingly. He then takes my hand to lead me to his lounge where we sit and have lunch, like we've been doing the past couple of days.
