chapter 33

Ahana was waiting for the cab, while trying to call someone continuously, but the other person's phone was unreachable.

Adam came outside, and saw her standing there. He went over to her.
“Ahana… I want to say … Sorry!” said Adam, trying to regain his breath.
Ahana didn't respond to him and started walking on the road. Seeing that, Adam started walking behind her too.
“Ahana, Baby… please listen to me. Please!”
Ahana didn't respond and continued to move forward.
Adam ran towards her and caught the hold of her arm,“Ahana… Please listen!”
Ahana turned towards him and glared at him,“I listened enough that day. Didn't I ? Leave my hand, Adam Connor!”
“I said, I'm sorry. Please, forgive me. Ok, I admit that I made a mistake. Everybody makes a mistake. Don't they? Haven't you made a mistake?”
“Oh! I have made a mistake. I have made a mistake of agreeing to that pathetic blind date! And, Adam Connor, I have never made a mistake of breaking someone's heart.” Ahana's lips curled.
“ I know I was an idiot… But, please listen to me… ” Adam couldn't complete his sentence, as Ahana's phone rang. She picked up her phone.
“Hi. Yeah. Yes, that was me. I'm sorry. I don't even know how to apologize to you. I mean, I… I don't know, honestly! But, I know one thing, that it isn't right for me, to do that to you. I'm Sorry. I'm really Sorry… Umm… yeah, it's the reason I told you about… no, I don't know. But, I want to try it… Yeah, thanks for understanding. Bye!” Ahana cut the call.
“Ahana, I know that you are probably angry at me,for hurting you… ”
“Probably?” said Ahana sarcastically and rolled her eyes.
“ I'm sorry that, I hurt you. If, It was up to me, I would do anything to turn that time back. But I don't have a time machine, neither can I build one!” Adam shrugged his shoulders.
“Probably, you can, My physics professor!”
“Adam, what is the point of talking about all of this now? That moments had happened, you had hurt me. You left me. All alone. Now what?” yelled Ahana.
“ I'm back, baby. I'm back! For you!”
“Back?” Ahana smirked,“Back for what? Back to run away, again?” stuttered Ahana, choking out the words, trying to control the tears, that were on the brink of her eyes.
“ I'll never leave you. I, I… have realized that I can't survive, in this world without you!” muttered Adam.
“So? I am your oxygen now? I wonder how many ‘Oxygens’ you tried on, when you were away!” Ahana felt adrenaline rushing through her body.
“There was no one.” Ahana shot him an incredulous look. Adam took a pause, before speaking,“ I'll not lie to you… I tried to find someone else… I did, but I tried to find you in everyone else… but, you are one of a kind.” Adam chuckled,“ Ahana, I thought I could live without you. But, I was wrong… I, I… ” Adam couldn't complete his sentence as Ahana spoke,“That was my fiancé!”
“I know, it was your fiancé, but I need to tell you… your fiancé!!” Adam gasped, as Realization dawned upon him.
“My parents, they made me meet this guy…” Ahana drawled on her words.
“ It's okay. I mean, it wasn't like… it wasn't like, you were gonna wait for me… I mean, it's okay… But, I,I… still want to tell you my feelings. I, I… can't keep them inside me… Please, listen to me.” babbled Adam.
“Adam… ” Ahana tried to speak, but Adam cut her in between,“Please, Ahana listen to me, for once. Please!”
“Ahana, I always thought that a Relationship, is supposed to be like My father and Mother's relationship; Where my mother tried everything to keep it intact, but my father did everything possible in this World to break her heart. I thought, I shouldn't love someone, as I was my father's son after all. I will break, someone's heart eventually. And I did. I did break your heart…” Adam stared down at his feet, but after a moment, he gathered himself and looked up,“But the time, in which I was away, I realized some important things. I realized that you can't control love. I didn't hate Jason before, but I started hating him, when I was in the US. I tried to tell myself, that hate was because of what he did to Rachel. But, it wasn't because of Rachel. I hated him, because I was jealous of him. He was your ideal guy. He got to be with you, while I was away. He got to celebrate things with you, when I couldn't. I hated him.” Adam clenched his teeth.
“I don't like Jason, like that anymore…”
“I realized another thing that, I wasn't like my dad. Maybe I was like my dad before, but you changed me. You changed me! You made me, one woman man. And there's only one woman, whom I want in this whole world…”
“Adam…” Ahana tried to interject, but again Adam silenced her with his hand.
“I was running away to get that New York job, the Pulitzer. I thought, that was my biggest desire. Maybe, it was at some point in my life!” Adam took a pause,“But It is no longer my biggest desire. Those things aren't my world. You are my world, Ahana Singh! You are the Sun of my solar system. You are my Pulitzer, my Nobel, my Grammy, My Oscar! Everything is you. Only you. I never thought I could be in love. I thought, I was going to die alone, where some neighbors will inform the police about my death. I supposed, that I was going to live this life all alone. But then you happened! And you totally made my thoughts go up and down. You made me realize that just laying on a couch, is better than having sex in a posh hotel. And that was a big thing for a guy like me, who thought that guys and girls will be together only for sex. You made me go ‘Gorilla’ over a gorilla…” Adam chuckled, remembering their Zoo date,“You changed me for the better! I enjoyed getting sick with you. Ahana Singh, you have crashed my whole system. You are the headline on every news channel of my heart. You are the most important discovery of my heart. If, you haven't still understood what I wanted to say, So here it is– I love you. I love you, Ahana Singh! I love you, in every language of this World! I love you more than the word ‘Love’ ! I could have noted down how to say ‘I love you’ in different languages too, but I didn't do it. Not because, I was lazy. But, because I wanted you to see it in the most beautiful language of this world. I wanted you to see it in my eyes…” Adam glanced at Ahana, whose eyes were watering up,“... I had bought the ring too. I was such an idiot to think that, you wouldn't have moved on…”
“I love you too.” mumbled Ahana.
“I know you loved me, but I lost the chance. Now, someone else is gonna marry you and spend their life with you, which isn't going to be me…” Adam babbled on.
“I love you too, Adam Connor!”
“I know, you have a fiancé…” Adam took a pause in between his babbling and glanced at Ahana,“Did you say,you love me, because I don't know, I think I heard it.”
Ahana smiled through the tears,“I love you too Adam Connor! I love you too!” said Ahana, tears spilling through her eyes.
“You love me?” asked Adam, unsure of what he heard,“You love me! Oh my God! You love me!! You love me!” shouted Adam and started dancing on the road. Ahana wiped her tears, with her hands and broke into a smile seeing Adam dancing like that.
Adam stopped in between his dancing, as something crossed his mind,“but, your fiancé?”
“We weren't really engaged…” said, Ahana through tears,“I, I already had told him about you. And, I , I told him that, I will try to move on… But, if I couldn't, I won't marry him… And, Now I have told him through the voice note that, I can't marry him…” Ahana glanced at Adam,“As, I couldn't move on… I couldn't move on from you, Asher Collins. I tried, I tried very hard! I wanted to hate you. I wanted to hate you so much! But even when I wanted to hate you so bad, I couldn't hate you at all. And that's when I knew, I love you. I love you, Adam Connor. And, there can't be any other man in my life, whom I could love like that! I love you, with my whole heart!” said Ahana, tears dripping through her eyes. Adam covered the small distance between them, and captured her lips in his. He kissed her tears away first, and then again kissed her lips,“Gosh! I missed you! I missed this!” said Adam, pointing between them.“I missed us!” said Adam and kissed Ahana on her nose.
“I missed you too.” said Ahana and placed a kiss on his forehead. Adam smiled at this gesture of hers. Adam hugged her tightly. While, he was hugging her, he remembered something. He stepped away from her, making Ahana confused,“What?” she asked.
Adam pulled a box out from his pocket and went down on his knee, which made Ahana gasp loudly. She covered her mouth with her hands.
“I know… it's quite early. But, I, Adam Connor want to wake up, with you on my side and want to sleep with you on my side. I want to cook together in the kitchen, want to shower together in the washroom. I want my kids to have smart brains and beautiful looks just like you. So Ahana Singh, will you marry me?” asked Adam, his hands trembling with fear.
Ahana nodded at him,“Yes, I do. I do!” Adam started to get up, but Ahana stopped him by her hand,“But wait! There's something I want to say to you. When you were away, I got plenty of time to think… to think about what kind of life partner did, I want… And, every time the answer was…” Ahana took a pause,“... Every time, the answer was … you, Adam. So, this decision isn't a rushed one for me. I don't think, there's anyone else, whom I want to marry in this World, but there's no one else, whom I can love in this world, like the way I love you.” smiled Ahana and placed a kiss at Adams's lips. Adam got up and kissed her passionately. Before breaking the kiss, he gently tugged at her lower lip, making Ahana blush.
“ I'll move here, with you,” muttered Adam, tugging at Ahana's shoulders.
“No need for that!” said Ahana, making Adam confused,“Because… I got a job in a reputed New York College!” exclaimed Ahana with joy.
“Really? Oh My God! That's so Good! Let's get married quickly then!” shouted Adam, happiness visible on his face,“Hey! But, what about your parents? What, if they didn't agree to our marriage.” asked Adam.
“They will not be a problem. When, I visited them in the past, I told them, I will marry according to my choice! And if, they have any problem with it, I will stop sending the monthly money. And guess what?” said Ahana, trying to sound cheerful, but her face gave her away,“They agreed!” Ahana's voice broke at the end, tears dripping from her eyes.
Adam engulfed her in a hug.“I love you, Ahana Singh.” whispered Adam in the hug and kissed her hair. Ahana smiled into his chest,“I love you too, Adam Connor.” said Ahana in a tearful voice, and kissed his chest.
“So let's start a new journey, Huh!” quizzed Adam. Ahana nodded at him and entangled her hand through his hand, and they walked off, towards their destination.

Adam and Ahana got together! Yay!!
