Feeling inferior to the taller, Jiaqi remained quiet and gazed out the window, not wanting to entertain her silly thoughts. When Yuyan was about to speak up, their teacher walked into the class with students rushing back to their seats. The new girl only bit her cheeks and walked to the front of the class after greeting since she was then forced to introduce herself.
"I'm Yuyan." Silence invaded the classroom as students were intimidated and the teacher was waiting for her to elaborate. Noticing that she was done, he cleared his throat and signaled, "Alright Ms Yuyan. You can take a seat next to Jiaqi."
With those 2 words, she then headed back to the one and only vacant seat. The whole time she had supported a smirk, thinking she could finally have a proper conversation her new seatmate who had a nervous expression on her face.
Taking a seat next to her, Yuyan leaned in and grinned devilishly, "There's no escaping now, Jiaqi."
The short haired girl groaned in agony as she buried her face into her palms before moving as far as she could from Yuyan. She had been cursing in her mind the entire time while trying to ignore Yuyan. Throughout the whole period, the girl had been flirting with her which she didn't realise since she just didn't know.
When break time had arrived, Jiaqi heaved a sigh of relief thinking that she could finally escape her annoying seatmate. "I'll be back princess, don't miss me too much ok?" Flirtingly winking at the shorter, Yuyan smiled before heading for the cafeteria.
Massaging her temples, Jiaqi grabbed her sketch book and decided to head to the rooftop which no one had ever found. She wanted some peace by herself since most of her classmates were still in class making a ruckus. As she sat against the wall, she started sketching out a portrait of a woman. She didn't know exactly who she was drawing but she kept the pencil moving. That was when she noticed the familiar features of the woman in her sketchbook.
"Why did I even draw that annoying person?" Groaning in exasperation, Jiaqi clenched tightly onto her eraser and was about to rub it off when the door to the rooftop opened. There was the same shade of red- the woman she saw this morning under the tree. Closing her book, she stood up and frantically headed straight for the door, wanting no conversation at all.
"Halt..."
She completely froze as the redhead's voice trailed off into thin air. Why was she asking me to halt? What if she's going to start a fight? Suddenly, a warm touch came into contact with her wrist, "How did you find this place? This lace was supposed to be my secret..."
Jiaqi softly inhaled a breath before answering, "Well it was supposed to be my secret too. However it doesn't seem like it." The latter squinted her eyes as if suspiciously accusing Jiaqi for some crime. After a few seconds passed, she then closed the half opened door and dragged Jiaqi to accompany her.
"Since we're already here, let's just get to know each other better." Smiling welcomingly, the redheaded patted to the spot next to her, inviting Jiaqi to seat down. Reluctantly, the taller heaved a sigh and sat down.
"So...My name is Kong Xueer and I'm a first year. What about you?"
Biting her lip, Jiaqi contemplated if she should say her name.
"I-I'm Xu Jiaqi. A first year too."
That was the first time she had ever told someone her name without the urging of Daimeng and Sunrui. With a slight smile on her face, Xueer hummed and enjoyed the silence that came next. It wasn't too noisy and silent, exactly how she liked things. After escaping from her friend, Yuyan, for a breath of fresh air, seeing a gorgeous woman at her little secret location wasn't exactly what she expected.
"Which class are you in?" Striking another conversation, Xueer gazed at Jiaqi in anticipation. The latter's hand reached to her nape as she slightly puffed out her cheeks, as if thinking about it. Xueer resisted the urge to softly pinch her cheeks, she seemed too adorable.
"Class 1G."
Shifting closer to the girl, Xueer rested her face against her hand as she leaned forward, "The classroom which is all the way at the end?" Jiaqi just nodded her head and asked, "What about you?" That very much shocked herself, normally she wouldn't have continued. However she was genuinely curious this time.
"I'm in class 1F. The one which is in the middle-ish."
Silence passed again with the two seated there relishing the warm yet chilly breeze. As the bell rang, signalling that lunch was going to end soon, Jiaqi and Xueer both stood up and headed for the exit. Of course their hands touched since both wanted to open the door.
"S-sorry." Stuttering a small apology, Jiaqi wanted to run out of there when Xueer let out a melodious laugh, "There's no need to be sorry..." Pausing for a while, ,Xueer contemplated whether she should continue. In the end, she ended up grabbing Jiaqi's wrist to stop her, "I hope to see you soon."
