Heading to school, Jiaqi was somehow excited to meet her roommate after a night without her presence. Though still in a state of denial that she was technically looking for her, Jiaqi's eyes darted around the hallways.
However, instead of Yuyan, it was a group of familiar looking students making their way towards her. Heaving a sigh as she turned around, she knew that there was no use escaping her bullies. Those were the people who would pick on her for not being able to socialise including mocking her frequent stutters.
It had been a long time since they had approached the girl ever since Yuyan came by. Looks like they had not changed one bit. Biting her lip nervously as a tight grip wrapped around her wrist, she got jerked back violently while they surrounded her.
"Loo who we have here. It has been a while since we have talked, so how are you doing? Miss us?" The leader of the group of bullies stepped forward with a cunning smirk creeping up his scarred face. She could only glare at the boy. Soon, other students started crowding around as the bullies started forcing her to talk.
One of his accomplices stepped forward and kicked her stomach harshly while the girl endured every single hit thrown her way. Nasty words and punches would never hurt her again as she was already used to them.
Suddenly, the bullies started slowing down their abuse as a loud voice echoed through the crowd.
"Get the fuck away from her before I rip your rotten lungs out of your pity ribcages."
Xueer shot glares at the group of bullies as she violently pushed past them before squatting down and wrapping her arms around Jiaqi. She acted as a shield while her eyes scanned Jiaqi's expression and body. Anger seeped through her veins as she looked back at the shocked boys. Of course they would, after all they hadn't expected the girl who had boys and girls chasing her to defend a nobody.
Spitting through gritted teeth, Xueer's sharp gaze pierced through their souls, "What the fuck are you waiting for? Waiting for me to kick every of your balls?" This was the first time the elegant redhead had ever lost her cool.
As one of the bullies was going to open his mouth, Xueer stood up and did exactly what she had said. Kicking with all her might, she sent that boy dropping to the ground like a ragdoll as gasps of sshock and groans of pain filled the air.
"Get your filthy ass away from my sight right now. ALL OF YOU."
The crowd immediately dispersed while the group of bullies ran for their lives, leaving Jiaqi and Xueer. Hugging the fragile figure of Jiaqi, Xueer's brows furrowed in worry, "Get on my back, I'm bringing you to the nurse's office right now."
There were light bruises on her ankles but Xueer was sure that there were more than those. Laughing in sarcastic humour, Jiaqi shook her head and forced a smile, "I can still walk Xueer...it's alright. If you don't get to your class right now you'll be late."
The redheaded was persistent as she huffed, "So be it." As she was about to support Jiaqi onto her back, another familiar voice filled the empty hallway.
"Are you alright Jiaqi? I have given those assholes a good beating already. They should have already learned their lesson."
There was Yuyan with her knuckles red and a victorious smile plastered on her face, standing by the opposite row of lockers. Jiaqi managed to let out a tiny smile at the sight of Yuyan before nodding her head. She was about to ask her how she had known about her bullies when someone interrupted them.
A blonde girl came running towards Yuyan from the row of lockers by the next hall, whining as she clung onto the taller. "Why did you leave me to fight those boys? I thought we were having a good time?" Yuyan's gaze instantly turned from soft to hard as her eyes landed on the blonde. Same for Jiaqi's mood.
Having a good time? You mean while I was being bullied, Yuyan was- No Jiaqi, she can do whatever she wants. Why do you even care about her life? Tearing her gaze off the player, she looked back at Xueer who had been patiently waiting for her.
"Let's go?"
The short haired girl nodded before Xueer lifted her on her back effortlessly, making her way to the nurse's office. Yuyan on the other hand was fuming with rage. Without a word, she threw a glare at the blonde and stepped away from her.
"Go."
That was enough for the other to leave in reluctance. Being left alone, the ash brown haired girl stared at the blurring silhouettes of Xueer and Jiaqi before heaving a heavy sigh. Was I too late? I hope she didn't misunderstand.
In the nurse's office, Jiaqi sat on the bed as Xueer stared at the bruises by her ankle suspiciously, "There is no way they had only kicked you by your ankle. The nurse should've checked else where too before leaving ugh."
Laughing melodiously, Jiaqi smiled, "Your instincts are sharp." As an all-knowing look crept up her face, Xueer flicked her hair, "Of course I'm right. They hit you by the stomach right?" Jiaqi nodded before shrugging, "It's not like an ice pack could help too."
The redheaded raised a brow as a cheeky grin appeared on her face, "But this cream could." Pulling out a tube of cream for treating wounds from her pocket, Xueer then knelt down and gently applied some on her ankles.
Curious as to why she would have that with her, Jiaqi questioned, "W-why do you have that?" If she wasn't yet comfortable around Xueer, she wouldn't have had the courage to strike another conversation.
With an angelic smile, Xueer then leaned closer to the girl as her hands reached for the hem of Jiaqi's uniform, "May I?" Though hesitant, the taller decided to nod her head before Xueer lifted her shirt up as she continued.
"Well since I'm in cheer, sometimes we do injure ourselves quite a bit so I just have one with me." As her focused eyes landed on a huge bruise right on top her hips, Xueer pushed her shirt further up and gently applied some cooling cream to the busted bruise.
Biting back a hiss of pain, Jiaqi's grip around Xueer's wrists tightened. The redheaded on the other hand tried ignoring how toned her stomach was as her fingers slightly grazed the faint yet obvious lines of her abs. Forcing her gaze off her stomach, Xueer then placed a few pieces of compression bandages over her bruise.
"Alright you're good to go."
Smiling in gratitude, Jiaqi pulled the girl into a small hug as she forced her voice to come out more than a mere whisper, "Thank you, Xueer...I really appreciate your help."
The cheerleader grinned back, her eyes shimmering with adoration, "No problem...So uh, about the tuition thing, if you're not free it's alright to call it off. I'll be fine studying with-"
Placing an assuring hand on her shoulders, Jiaqi shook her head and smiled a toothy grin, "Why would you suddenly say that? I offered it in the first place so I should keep my words."
Silence then overcame the two as each of them thought of their next words. Jiaqi's eyes bored into her honey brown ones, "Meet me at the secret rooftop tomorrow after school then. We'll head to the library after meeting up. Is that fine?"
As a shy smile stretched across her face, Xueer nodded and agreed.
"Yes, it's fine."
