Caressing her cheeks, Yuyan leaned in, allowing their foreheads to touch. She had her arms wrapped around her slender waist as their breaths collided with one another, the feeling of intimacy warped around them. Supporting a satisfied smile, the taller whispered in a relaxing tone, "I love you too, Xu Jiaqi."

The two stayed in that position for a moment, enjoying the comforting silence and the presence of each other. Cracking a little laugh, Jiaqi gently trailed her fingers down Yuyan's bare back, "Isn't it ironic how we already know each other feelings for a long time yet none of us made the move to ask someone out?"

Tucking a strand of loose hair behind Jiaqi's ears, Yuyan hummed softly, "Hmm...even so, asking you out right now wouldn't be appropriate, would it?" The short haired girl pouted before her lips tugged up into a grin, "What are you insinuating?" Her eyes glowed radiantly as she left a peck on her cheek.

"You'll have to wait, my love." That cheeky smile never left her face, enjoying the sulking girl in front of her. It took her everything to refrain herself from revealing her big plan. However, because of the rumour, Yuyan had decided to push the date back as she didn't want the campus to misunderstand. When she first saw the post, her blood boiled in seething rage and she was more than ready to snap the person's neck off. Those disgusting comments were not helping her growing anger too.

In fact, the Xueer and Jiaqi kissing act did not even bother her at first because all she could focus on was the thought of killing everyone who had talked bad about Jiaqi.

Clenching her fists as her mind drifted back to those hate words, Yuyan didn't even notice that she was basically squishing Jiaqi's wrists until the girl groaned in pain. She narrowed her eyes, glancing at her now bruised wrists. As she sighed, Jiaqi gently punched her on the stomach, "Don't think about those negative things. They didn't even affect me at all. I'm not that weak you know."

Yuyan bit on her lip before grabbing a towel to dry herself though most water droplets have seeped through Jiaqi's pajamas. Mumbling a guilt filled sorry as her fingers grazed her bruised wrists, Yuyan huffed a breath. The taller then placed her towel back onto the shelf before pinning her against the door again.

"I know you're not weak but please...stay with me. Don't you ever leave my side when we're in school." Golden brown stared into hazel brown. She was amused while the other was worried. The only emotion connecting them right then was love. Not being able to hold back a smile after seeing Yuyan's serious yet cute expression, Jiaqi's lips tugged up.

Scoffing, Yuyan looked away from her smile, "Why are you smiling? I'm being serious alright? I'm really worried because you just barely recovered from your fever and now you have to deal with this. And I know for a fact that those stupid bitches won't leave you alone especially if you're not with someone." Jiaqi nodded slowly as she leaned forward, capturing the taller's lips.

The way her tongue slowly grazed her lips made her anxiety slowly fade away. The slow and steady movement of her lips gave her a new sensation of comfort, as if Jiaqi was telling her that she will never leave her side be it in school or outside.

Breaking the kiss, the short haired girl tilted her head and stared into her love filled eyes. Her butter smooth voice escaped her throat as she caressed Yuyan's temple, "I'll stay by your side no matter what."

The night fell into a peaceful silence as the two slept in each other's warm embrace.

When morning arrived, Daimeng, Sunrui and Yuyan had formed a barrier around Jiaqi as if they were bodyguards. Yuyan was by her side while the other two were on front and behind. Though the short haired girl had complained about how that was completely unnecessary and extra, the three girls only glared at her.

Students were whispering while staring at the four, nasty glares and looks directed right at Jiaqi while some gossiped about the post. In that moment, Jiaqi knew how celebrities feel when having their private lives exposed to the public. And it feels extremely terrible.

"Hey Yuyan, please do a good job at protecting Jiaqi. We have to get going to class." Sunrui and Daimeng nudged the taller who nodded and shot all the students a hard glare before rushing to their classroom which was a block away.

When she opened her locker, a destroyed doll fell out and there were all sorts of hate letters filling it. Jiaqi bit on her lip as she glanced nervously at Yuyan whose face was turning redder by the second. The laughters from students immediately died when Yuyan slammed her fist against her locker door and opened her mouth.

"Who did it?" Her voice was cold and intimidating, it was somehow silent yet loud enough for everyone to hear. The hallway was so quiet that if a pin had dropped, it would have been obvious. Losing her patience and cool, Yuyan raised her voice, sending everyone weak at their knees in fear.

"I SAID WHO THE FUCK DID IT?"

Everyone pointed to a boy who was ready to flee for his life. Chuckling darky, Yuyan slowly approached him before swiftly lifting him up by the collar. Her glare pierced through his head as she spoke in a hushed and venomous tone, "Say sorry to her and never let me see your face again." Once she had let him go, he rushed to Jiaqi and bowed with tears gushing down his cheeks while repeating sorry.

Scoffing in rage, Yuyan then muttered loudly, "Get out of my sight now." He wasted no time and scrambled away, leaving the other students scared shitless. She then turned her attention back to them.

"Whoever wrote those letters apologise to her now."

Everyone started doing exactly what she had said before Yuyan raised her voice one last time. "If I catch anyone doing any fucked up things to Jiaqi, I'll break every limbs in you."

In a few seconds, the hallway was empty with Yuyan pulling Jiaqi against her chest, whispering words of comfort. The latter smiled weakly and wrapped her arms around her neck, muttering a thank you. The day then continued with the two heading into the classroom. Of course her table had nasty carvings on it with fake blood. Yuyan didn't care about anything in that moment. She knew it would be bad but not this bad.

"Don't make me repeat myself. Who?" The veins in her arms popped as she clenched her fists tightly. The class went silent as Yuyan glared at everyone in seething anger. Poking her tongue against her cheeks, Yuyan begun counting down.

"3, 2, 1-"

"It was them!"

Knowing what the taller was about to do, Jiaqi softly grabbed onto her hand and traced soothing circles on her pulse.

"Don't. You'll be trouble. Teacher is probably coming soon so they'll receive punishment." Yuyan inhaled and exhaled before nodding her head. With her head hung low, Yuyan grabbed the stuff on Jiaqi's table and walked to the rubbish bin. On her way glaring at the group of boys.

Just then the teacher walked in and Yuyan told him everything, making him yell at the group of boys, "Head to the principal's office right now. This behaviour is not tolerated here." The first period passed by with the returning of results and the two ignoring all the staring.

Jiaqi might have told Yuyan that she wouldn't be hurt by anything they say but she was still human. And indeed she let the hate letters and bullying get to her. Some even told her to commit suicide while others threatened to set her things on fire if she doesn't leave Xueer alone.

One things for sure, this world was cruel. And it was as if it was only her and Yuyan against it.
