Silence passed by as the short haired girl tried processing every word she had just said. Punishment? This girl has some serious problems... With her heart pace slowly quickening as seconds passed, Jiaqi huffed and used all her strength to push Yuyan off her. She couldn't stand how close the taller was to her.
Instead of pinning her back against the bookshelves, Yuyan's smirk never left her face as she stepped back. Sighing in defeat, Jiaqi cleared her throat and grabbed her phone from her hands. "Y-you're mistaken. I probably typed in the wrong number in a hurry."
Focusing on typing in her phone number again, she didn't notice the taller's piercing gaze. The dim lights of the quiet library casted on her face as Yuyan took the chance to admire her features. It wasn't everyday she could get close to Jiaqi without the other ignoring her entire existence.
Earlier, Yuyan had told Xueer to head home first as she had to deal with Jiaqi because she figured the number wasn't hers. She had searched every area near the café however there was no sight of Jiaqi. She was going to give up when a certain short haired girl went into the library. There was only one thing she could do, hope that it was indeed the girl and follow her.
"What are you...going to do with my number anyways?" Trailing off, Jiaqi handed the phone back to Yuyan as she momentarily gazed into her hazy yet luminous eyes. As she snapped out of her trance, the taller made sure to check if it was her real number before smiling innocently, "That's for me to know and for you to wait and see."
Fear struck Jiaqi and her thoughts went wild. What if she was going to sell my number?
"Alright then, I'm going to leave now since I have what I wanted now. Here's your book." Bowing politely as if she had not been intimidating a few minutes before, Yuyan then passed it to a puzzled Jiaqi. Before she could take a step, the shorter reached out for her hand.
It took the both of them by surprise. Jiaqi didn't know why she had even reached out and grabbed the latter's wrist. It was as if her mind had a thinking of its own. Yuyan on the other hand completely froze. I-is it her who's touching my hand right now?
Although it was only a touch, it was another level of achievement for her. With her world still spinning in adrenaline and joy, Yuyan turned back around before raising a brow but this time not in an intimidating and sarcastic way. To Jiaqi, the brow raise seemed more adorable than the last few times.
"I-uh, can you promise not to do...anything bad with my number? I can't trust you." Her voice was honey sweet and delicate. Yuyan wanted to laugh at how absurd her thinking was but she couldn't because of her adorable expression. Jiaqi's rosy cheeks were slightly puffed out as she cutely requested. It was also partly because of Yuyan considering whether the 'I can't trust you' part was hurting her or not.
A short silence passed by before Yuyan gathered herself and assured the latter.
"I won't."
Returning back to her dorm, Jiaqi hadn't expect Daimeng and Sunrui sitting at the dining table seriously discussing about something. "Oh you're finally back! Go get a shower first...we have to talk about something." A bad ominous feeling crept up Jiaqi's spine as she hurried to the toilet. I hope everything's alright...
After finishing her shower, she then seated down across her two friends while eating a tub of ice cream as she listened.
"Alright so, you know how we have one vacant spot in this dorm right?" As Sunrui spoke, Daimeng logged into her account and flashed a mail on the screen of her laptop.
"Yep, what about it?" Cluelessly looking at the two, she then turned her attention to the email.
"We received an email from the school advisor that a new student will be moving into our dorm since it's the only dorm left with one vacant spot." Daimeng sighed and worriedly looked at the emotionless expression of Jiaqi.
"The two of us are fine with it but we're worried about you since you're not that sociable with others. And the worse thing is..." As the latter trailed off, Sunrui continued as she stuffed some ice cream into her mouth. "The vacant spot is in the room you're in. That means she or he will be your roommate."
Burying her face into her palms, Jiaqi softly muttered, "It's alright...I'll just have to get used to it sooner or later." Both her friends exchanged looks before patting her on the shoulder, "You can switch rooms with me you know. At least with Sunrui you'll be much much more comfortable."
Slowly shaking her head, Jiaqi flashed a gummy smile, "Nah, it'll be troublesome shifting all my stuff and your stuff too. Aiya, I'll be fine. It's not like it can be that bad right?"
As she chuckled at how Jiaqi still remained positive, Daimeng then sighed, "At anytime if you feel that the person is crossing your boundaries, let us know alright?" Jiaqi nodded her head while stopping herself to overthink.
"The person is moving in next week so we'll have exactly 6 days to pack that messy room of yours." Laughing at a playfully glaring latter, Sunrui then hid behind Daimeng as Jiaqi pretended to punch her. The topic then moved onto the approaching exams as the night was then filled with laughter and cries.
Soon, the thoughts of having a new dormmate had slowly dissipated in Jiaqi's mind...along with the many notifications bombarding her phone.
