CHAPTER TWELVE
CHANGE OF PLANS
⋘ ──── ∗ ⋅◈⋅ ∗ ──── ⋙Tanya had the plan Luke made up tattooed into her brain. Knowing every step and precaution needing to be made acknowledged. At first, she wasn't up for it, but after extensive minutes of Luke trying to persuade her, she caved in.
Chato had found more tracks where Elena had told them to look. Tracking the vehicle all the way up into the favelas and to a location. Leading to the teams in the three vehicles, weapons loaded and gear on.
Holding her AR-15, Tanya's eyes drifted across the sidewalks the Gurka passed. Seeing children watching the vehicles pass with attentive eyes. A thought passing Tanya's mind as she wondered how Ana and Sam were doing back home. Tanya would do anything to see her two girls right now and just talk to them.
Hitting a bump, Tanya felt her stomach clench as she felt this wave of nausea. Placing a hand on her forehead, Tanya let out a slow breath as the Gurka came to a stop. Everyone filing out of the vehicle except Tanya who was trying to get her bearings. This nauseating feeling had been going on for a while back home, but it felt like it was getting worse with her being here.
"You good?"
Luke's voice had Tanya lift her head to the back door of the Gurka where he stood. Blinking tiredly, Tanya nodded, "Yeah, let's go." She reassured as she hopped out. Placing a hand on his cheek as she leaned forward and pressed a kiss to his lips. Not giving him enough time to reciprocate as she pulled away and began walking away.
Tanya walked beside Elena as Luke took the lead and the rest of the guys behind the two women. Taking stairs up into the favelas and coming across men with weapons all around. All of them sending glares to the group as more appeared, blocking the path leading further up into the favelas.
Coming to a stop, Luke unholstered his revolver, enabling the rest of the team to raise their weapons. Tanya pointing her gun at a man above them on a balcony. Motioning with her head to leave, "Vá em frente. (Get going)" She told him as he backed away from the balcony and disappeared. Potioning her aim on the men in front of them and blocking their path, the crowd began backing away and clearing.
"I thought so," Luke muttered before they continued walking. Tanya keeping her gun up even as they walked past the large group. If there were civilians with weapons like that, then anyone could be holding and ready to kill if they were inclined to do so.
