CHAPTER SIX
BABYSITTER
⋘ ──── ∗ ⋅◈⋅ ∗ ──── ⋙

Giggling could be heard outside the small apartment that resided inside Tanya's apartment. A tumbling and the giggling seizing. "Are you okay, mommy?" Ana asked with her strong Russian accent as she stood above her mom.

"Yeah, are you okay miss O'Conner?" Sam asked with a smirk on her face. Sam was Luke's daughter and was rather mischievous just like Ana.

After Tanya took Ana back to the U.S., the little girl fell in love with her home. Able to adjust quite easily to the new life present to her. Although she could be silent at night and often needed to sleep with Tanya, she was doing well for her new life. Not to mention that when Tanya was off on her last two missions, Ana had adjusted to the apartment with ease.

It had been a couple of weeks since the explosion in Istanbul and Tanya was still recovering. Sure, she was good at hiding her pain, but she still felt like shit every day.  On the bright side of everything, Luke had welcomed her back with a big hug as she laid on a stretcher. Not exactly the way she wanted it to go down, but would take it anyway.

Sighing dramatically, Tanya faked a hiss as she held the back of her head. "I think I busted my head open. Ow." She whimpered earning two worried and fearful looks from the two girls. "Oh my god! Are you okay?" Sam yelled as she and Ana crouched down to the woman.

Without a second of hesitation, Tanya had the girls in her arm and smiling at the screaming girls. "Now I am." She chuckled as she tickled the two girls in her arms. The giggles from the two masking the door of the apartment opening.

Luke staring wide-eyed at the scene in front of him. Not having expected Tanya to be good with kids, but clearly he extremely wrong. Watching Tanya spin the girl's around and watching her laugh made a small smile appear on Luke's face.

It would be a lie if he said that he started feeling some type of way about Tanya. After the months since the job back at the compound in Serbia, he had started seeing her as something more than just a friend. Of course, Luke would never be a man about it and say anything, but if the chance came he would say something.

Clearing his throat, the three turned to the door with big smiles on their face. "Daddy!" Sam exclaimed as she leapt out of Tanya's arms and ran to her dad. Engulfing him in a hug which made him chuckle. "Hey, baby. How was being with Ana and Tanya?" He asked and the girl pulled from the hug smiling. "It was awesome. Tanya cooked us up some meatballs and rice. It was super good."

Tanya smiled as she held Ana in her arms as she smiled at the two Hobbs. "Well, if I didn't you and Ana would've continued poking my face. So, I knew I had to." She teased and Sam in response, stook her tongue out at the woman. The four chuckling as Luke put his daughter down.

Looking up at Tanya with a smile. "Thank you, Tanya. For watching her." He thanked her and Tanya waved him off. "It was the least I could do. If you ever need me to watch her then just let me know." She told him and earned a smile before he looked at his daughter. "Honey, why not you and Ana go play in her room for a bit." He suggested. "I need to speak to Tanya. Privately."

The girl nodded as she grabbed Ana's hand and they went to Ana's bedroom and began playing with some of the toys Tanya bought. Smiling as she watched her daughter with admiration in her eyes. "God, I'm so happy I took her back with us." She muttered as Luke stood beside her. A similar smile on his face as he nodded. "Yeah. Same."

Sighing lightly, Tanya turned to Luke. "So, what do you need to talk about?" She asked and he motioned her to sit at the island. She did so as Luke sat beside her on the stools and moved a file towards her.

"That info we retrieved from the compound got us our man." He began as Tanya glanced at him before opening the file. Seeing a picture of a man with a bald head and a large beard. A scar along his cheek that comes to a curve right under one of his eyes. The eye covered by an eyepatch that wrapped around his head. Tanya remembered this man being at the holding facility she was tortured in. Having asked her about the info on her brother and even cut her up for shits and giggles.

"Tracked his location to a large sight that the FBI has been scouting out for months." He explained as Tanya came to another picture that was of the sight. It looked like a shipping yard with a large building in the back. A rooftop with a helipad and windows lining the slight angle of the building almost as a skylight. The windows leading down to a drop into a river beside it where boats come in to drop off the shipment containers.

Luke sighed as he clasped his hands together. "Now, info is that Rezanov, the man who has been looking for info on your brother is there. If we go in tomorrow, we cut off his escape and the chance of him being gone forever." Luke explained as Tanya silently listened. "He knows we're coming but doesn't know when. So, if we get the jump on him now, then he won't know what to do."

Tanya nodded as she shut the file and turned towards Luke. "What kind of resistance are we expecting?" She asked and Luke shrugged. "20+ tangos. All with AK's and nothing more. Most of them are just hired guns so I don't suspect that much of a challenge." He explained as he scratched his chin. "We'll be running with Demon Dogs. They've been tasked with taking Rezanov alive and we'll be helping with that." He told her and she nodded.

"When do we move out?"

Luke stared at her before getting up. "How fast can you get ready?"
